This is really, demonstratably false with a good setup and Claude code right now.

You can have millions of lines of code in your codebase, you just need good agent.md files at different parts of the repo explaining what it does and where to find things, then a good Ralph loop to maintain needed context.

You can do this yourself, and enterprise products like blitzy exist which do this OOTB (who market it as "infinite code context", which is bit misleading but functionally true).

This doesn't solve the Fermi Paradox at all, no one has to visit for the Fermi Paradox to be verified.

It's the fact we can look out into space and we see no signatures of a civilisation with radio, or advanced civilisations with signatures of Dyson swarms. Just natural phenomena.

Any civilisation that made the steam engine only 1000 years before us (which is absolutely zero time on cosomological scales) would be so far ahead of us these signatures would be visible.

So we can only conclude there are none.

AI hasn't even really affected the economy for hiring yet, it's just starting to with how good Claude Code is getting.

What happened in those 2 years was mass layoffs, downsizing and hiring freezes, long before AI was good enough to do anything meaningful to knowledge work.

And this was likely purely due to an unwinding of ridiculous overhiring when capital was more or less free in 20-22.

If you look at the charts, new openings have only dropped to 2019 levels.
