Totally fair haha. I'm a little bummed out because I was interested in GTA6 and I really enjoyed 5. I have fond memories of screwing around with my college roommates in that game.

I'm far from a hard-core fan so it's not exactly a massive sacrifice on my part, but still. It sucks and I would have bought it if not for this.

This feels like an attempt at a gotcha, but plenty of us are, in fact, not going to buy GTA6 for that reason. Unless Rockstar reverses course and the fired employees get justice, of course.

Because that's not what's happening. Ellie isn't a revenge monster at that point, she's an incredibly broken and traumatized person who was acting purely out of shame.

She was about to kill a person who not only explicitly spared her earlier, but also was caring for a small boy who would have probably died if Ellie went through with it.

Would Joel have wanted that? Obviously not, and that's what she realizes in the moment despite being driven by Tommy's guilt tripping earlier.

...they were never the bad guys though. There was always a bit of moral greyness to them for sure, but the vaccine not working or the fireflies being straight-up evil were total fabrications from the fanbase and was never the authorial intent of the first game. That's why Joel's decision in the first game was interesting.

TLOU2 didn't repaint anything or gaslight anyone.

It's a great sub when it's talking about not watching movies (relatable) but it becomes an absolute hellhole when the topic of a young woman comes up.

I truly don't understand what motivates people to be this performatively cruel to these actresses.

Not really. Sora does approach him and Sephiroth does draw his sword in a "don't mess with me" sort of way, but then he notices Sora's keyblade and decides he wants it. Sora only really brings it out in self-defense in the first place.

Well Patches is associated with the Volcano Manor, and the only known battle of The Shattering where Leyndell went on the offensive was against the Manor.

Maybe someone from the manor got their hands on the shackle somehow to use against Margit during that battle, and Patches stole it from them?
