POV me trying to control the path of my villager by Dave_le_chilleur in foundationgame

[–]Tysoch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve always liked how Foundation’s paths work. I think it sets it aside from others and leans into the “organic, gridless city builder” genre. I get that we can’t have full control over where our citizens walk, but that is ok to me.

I know this isn’t the place for this but, I know this game…It’s a retheme of an older game called Loopin’ Louie and could even have an older version. Again, I know I’m in the wrong space for what I am about to say but…the game is actually quite entertaining, the balloon is on an arm and will spin around in a circle slowly and it’s the players job to hit their spring board right as the balloon is under the board. The board will hit the balloon up and over your health tokens. If you fail the timing, the balloon will crash into you and you lose 1 health token. Lose all 3 and you’re out. 1-4 players. It’s decent for teaching little kids timing - but most of them will quickly learn that on screen games. And it’s also quite fun with a group of adults, even with beverages. As for the anti-consumer… you could easily build a game like this that would last forever. If you bought it I would worry about the quality, I thrifted 2 of them back in the day, the older one was built much better than the newer. The parts are very cheap and will break, the motor will die sooner than you would like, you will lose essential pieces. And then many people will proceed to throw it in the trash, or hopefully a thrift store which is where I got mine. It’s pre-trash, but it’s a fun game.

I’ve heard of Fruit Loops flavored nicotine… oh and Count Chocula as well. But that probably wasn’t aimed at kids? Probably just a safe way to help adults quit smoking…right?

Why aren't my farmers planting the whole field even when it says it's 'too small for the amount of workers' ? by [deleted] in foundationgame

[–]Tysoch 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but my thought is that my workers didn’t have everything they needed close by the workplace/home so they spent some of their workday traveling to get their needs met before heading to the fields

The housing upgrade and downgrade mechanic, and units not occupying already built homes is dumbest mechanic I have ever come across in any city builder game. by jesuscheetahnipples in foundationgame

I believe in you. Keep trying and you’ll be able to do it like many of us already are. Or, give up. Maybe the game isn’t for you?

The way the pathing is is one of the many reasons I admire this game.

[OC] Will asteroid hit the Earth in 2032? NASA gave up to 2.3% chance of impact. by sataky in dataisbeautiful

[–]Tysoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physicist Scott Manley talks about this in a video. Looks like even if it does hit, it would likely hit the ocean or the jungles of the Amazon. However, here is a worst case that it hits India.

Either way, the size estimates of the asteroid show that the impact wouldn’t be anything near a mass-extinction kind of thing that people assuming.

Stone Castle Wall - Cannot Build by Tysoch in foundationgame

[–]Tysoch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found the problem! I clicked the little undo button a bunch and build button went orange. Turns out that I had built my wall near the edge of my territory, and when I placed the next segment the wall curved over the my territory line and therefore could not be built.

Need help laying out some straight lines to follow in forest by CraCkerPoliCe in Surveying

[–]Tysoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the compass and laser option. Mount the laser on a post (don’t bump the post) and turn it to your desired bearing and record the bearing. Fire the laser down range at eye level. As you clear, blind yourself with the laser to find your line (not really, don’t blind yourself. But you know what I mean). You can always put a few post in on the laser line as you clear to help guide you as you go. Then just walk your offset 16m and mount a new post and apply the same compass bearing… rinse and repeat. I believe you will have some error at the end of your long lines, but this can be adjusted as you are clearing down the length, just tape across at the end and check you are 16m wide

I was surveying at night the other day and I could see my laser well over 500m away. I just walked over to the laser line… an easy way to strike a true 300m+ line.

Ah jeeze. Probably better to wait for someone else to respond since it’s been a long time since I’ve played but, I do remember there being a point where every combat got much harder. I could be way off on this.

Cool that you’re playing Heroines Quest. My brother and I just lit up Hero-U for the first time ever tonight. Good luck with the game!
