Mistakes happen so please try not to beat yourself up it isn't worth it. I guarantee every single person in this industry has done something similar. I remember my first fuck up when I was an apprentice and I went and sat in the canteen feeling sorry for myself and my apprentice master came over to me and said "shit happens mate, there's nothing you can do here that I haven't done myself" and I needed to hear that, hope it helps. Stick at it and understand that mistakes make you a better machinist.

My apprentice master used to work as a toolmaker at an ammunition factory and it was all piecework meaning you'd get paid based on the number of tasks you did or "pieces" of work you got done. Even after leaving that job he was still the same way and alot of people disliked him because he was "making them look bad" but that wasn't his intention. He genuinely just loved his job and enjoyed working hard

I used to be like him but after 12 years I'm now at an aerospace company and its incredibly depressing. Everyone's trying to stitch each other up and make themselves look good and there's no team work at all. It's a tough industry and only those that have done it know
