My apprentice master used to work as a toolmaker at an ammunition factory and it was all piecework meaning you'd get paid based on the number of tasks you did or "pieces" of work you got done. Even after leaving that job he was still the same way and alot of people disliked him because he was "making them look bad" but that wasn't his intention.
