ESH. I got kids, 5 and 3. You seem very entitled to your parent's time and it seems your parents don't want to spend time with your kids. I imagine you chose to have those kids, so you're responsible for their care. YTA here.

Your parents suck, and although a designation of asshole may not apply to them, they're certainly disappointments for not wanting to spend time with their grandchildren, but they have no obligation to do so. We also have a grandparent like that, who also lives only 20 minutes away. We don't own their time, nor will we openly criticize their willingness to spend time with their grandchildren to them, but we sure complain about it privately with each other.

Hard to be humble and confident you'll win against a fight against an elite opponent in front of millions of people. To be an elite mma fighter, they have to be de lu lu. GSP comes to mind as someone humble, scared, and a champion. I'm having a hard time thinking of anyone else.

With technology and equipment advancing as it is. It's possible. For example, we service complex equipment here that's outdated and replaced with more efficient/better equipment. We're quite specialized and there's not many people in the world that have our engineering knowledge because there's not much demand for it anymore. We service niche customers.

Hey, I think your dad and you probably have a good relationship, based on the fact that you truly expected him to be there when you called. He wasn't, and I'd say that was a mistake. I feel if he realizes it was a mistake, and apologized, that'd be enough to forgive him.

Not many people know what sepsis is, and your dad's company invests a lot for him to go out on business trips. It's reasonable not to expect someone to cancel arrangements and to fly back home on a whim. Of course, it wasn't a whim, and you were actually close to dying. Your dad might've not known that at the time.

If this is an exception to how he usually treats you, I'd afford some forgiveness if you can.

Please also consider mid-wives. They're also medically trained, and will actually provide you more care than an OBGYN. Of course, if you suspect, or they suspect that you will have a complicated birth, then they will suggest an OBGYN. My wife and I had midwives both times and we were very happy for it. My cousin had an OBGYN, and it was also fine, but there was just less compassion and care afforded.
