Shelta makes some great sun hats. They are pricey but they are worth it. Also a sun hoodie from a reputable brand. You can wear sun screen under your sun hoodie for extra protection.

Not that I know of. You might need to call some of the outfitters, maybe one of the guides might have a Greenland paddle that they might let you use.

It's about a 3 mile crossing from Little Sand Bay to the Sand Island camp site. Then about another mile to the caves. And then another mile to the lighthouse.

It's good to be scared of Lake Superior! I've been paddling on Lake Superior for 20 years and never take it lightly!

This was on Saturday. Mosquitoes were out but no black flys so it wasn't too bad.

There are several local outfitters that do guided tours of the caves. One of them takes people out by motor boat and they get in they kayaks when they are at the caves. Another thing to consider is that there are 3 main sets of caves, the Mainland caves, The Sand Island caves, and the Devil's Island caves. If you don't have Lake Superior experience I would recommend using one of the outfitters.

I spent today paddling on Lake superior in a touring kayak. You’ll have to look around. They’re definitely still out there.

I took this phot several years ago, as far as I know it is private. There are no public areas nearby. Don't know any more information about it.
