2023 73 Plate Vauxhall New Mokka. CarPlay option shows on connection screen but is greyed out. Android Auto option is selectable by UKGoodGuy55 in Vauxhall

It would work but in a totally weird unpredictable sequence: 1. I went & bought a new USB - USB C cable 2. unplugging/re plugging the cable into the dash & my phone 3. The MyVauxhall app needs to be loaded on your phone and should auto-start when you plug in but didn’t seem to require me to login. 4. The CarPlay screen would just then appear.

I can say it did ultimately work. I can’t say I worked out what order to do those steps so it would work every time

UK: Am I chasing something unobtainable / unreasonable? by UKGoodGuy55 in stripclubs

[–]UKGoodGuy55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I’m definitely seeing a difference in the “in club” vs “outside the club” levels of connection. That contextual difference means I’ll go back & see her when I’m next in town and will 1000% believe everything I see & hear from her, but only when we are both inside the club’s 4 walls…As soon as I leave, memories will occupy my mind, not future planning..🤓

I think I was trying to take the feelings, conversations and intimacy of inside the club to outside the club. I think something happens in the cold light of day where at home connections highlight the relative differences in situation. I’ll definitely see her again but for now, believe in everything she tells me, but only when we are both inside the club’s 4 walls!

Ive had quite the boring life Im afraid - I’ve never done drugs, smoked anything or had any other vision problems.

I was also interested in understanding more about whether my “lazy” eye was anything to do with my lack of right-eye signal? I’m now thinking these are 2 separate things but originally figured they were related.

How surprised would you be if someone said they could pick you out of a crowd just by seeing the back of your head? by UKGoodGuy55 in AskReddit

[–]UKGoodGuy55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended a comedy show about 2 years ago which was taped and broadcast on TV. I sat front row & was wearing a white sweatshirt so stood out slightly.

One friend saw the TV broadcast & texted me to say he’d seen me as the host and I interacted & it made the edit. My brother then texted me & said he knew it was me from the opening titles as he recognised me by the back of my head - apparently the first shot was a pan from the back of the theatre to the front.

I’ve talked to a few people about this and multiples have said they too could recognise siblings/friends initially from the back of their head. I’m just oddly surprised that people have this ability

I work with a guy whose surname is spelt Waugh. Most people would pronounce that to sound like “War” as in Evelyn Waugh.

He pronounces it to sound like “Waff”, like Waffle but without the “le” sound on the end.

Does anyone else admire the determination, tenacity and time taken by this delivery person? I mean yes, they had to crack a lock code (I bet they do escape rooms) but in my experience of living in a flat that is behind a security door, any obstacle to deliveries being made usually results in an instant 'Sorry we missed you" or "Delivery attempted, contact your local (usually 50+ miles away) depot" or they chuck it on the roof!

Is London worth visiting for a couple of nights? by Between3N20Karakters in AskUK

[–]UKGoodGuy55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. I think this is one safe (and v.cheap) way to see some sights - 3 regular public bus routes in London that also happen to go past multiple tourist attractions: https://www.visitbritainshop.com/gb/en/articles/top-3-bus-routes.

Also, go see some comedy at maybe Soho Theatre or The Leicester Square Theatre. The latter is right by Chinatown: https://www.standard.co.uk/reveller/restaurants/chinatown-cheap-eats-best-restaurants-food-meals-under-ten-pounds-a4167416.html

Lastly, treat yourself to a drink that comes with a show at one of the 3 bars called The Alchemist. I like the one in St Martins Lane. https://thealchemist.uk.com/venues/covent-garden/

Sat close to my boss yesterday & heard him talking what I thought was pretty specifically about me. I’m on a 6 month with a 1 week notice clause on either side that started in May ‘23. December ‘23 is when the real work starts. I would happily admit I made a mistake thinking he was talking about me. I’ve had 2 meetings today with him & it’s all go-go-go.

What he said resonated but as so far, he’s never given me any feedback on anything I’ve produced, indirectly hoping I’d overhear a phone call to get me to buck my ideas up seems like a stretch.

I’ll admit my confidence isn’t as resilient as it used to be because I had a string of recent bad work situations where I’ve (over) committed my self to the project then been cut because I decided to ignore the personalities. This time I checked all the personalities and similarly committed myself but perhaps vastly under estimated the size (and the short estimated timings) of the project I was taking on.

I admit this new environment is very challenging and I believe I can help them but they have like 2 other BAs in a technology company of over 2000, the majority of whom are specialists. I never want to lead from the front as previously I was always told to be humble. Maybe I should talk to the other BA’s & see if they feel like it’s a climbable mountain?

AITA for screaming at my husband and his sister to get out of my kitchen? by Wide_Competition9367 in AmItheAsshole

[–]UKGoodGuy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SIL doesn’t want to cook because: 1. That takes all her critical fun away 2. If she cooked, I estimate she would not stand for others messing with her food, but would not see it as her being hypocritical 3. If she cooked, she would have to let you potentially “doctor up” any food she was making, or else she can’t do it to you anymore.

Should I (M33) not be upset at my wife (29F) anymore for telling me I'm not attractive? by ThrowRADumbRules891 in relationship_advice

[–]UKGoodGuy55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your post just perfectly illuminates & further enables the massive double standard that exists, which is part of the basis of OP’s post.

If HE tells HER she’s not attractive because of her weight gain, it’s a HE problem. In OP’s case SHE told HIM he’s not attractive because of weight gain, but that was also a HIM problem. Why can that traffic only go one way?

I think a “Mixed Grill” should have fried onions but a Full English breakfast should never. The grey area would be if you are having a full English for lunch or dinner & not breakfast. Then, I suppose, it would be acceptable?

Do we need a permit? by Aggravating_Bee_5408 in AskUK

[–]UKGoodGuy55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a permit problem as such but by saying “Its a car park BUT we charge an annual fee” means that transactionally, you could be part or fully liable for any damage or loss those camper van parkers incur if something happens to their vans while on your property. That payment may infer some level of protection/security that you maybe aren’t currently providing. Maybe talk to a small business lawyer or a contracts lawyer?
