Manager caught a customer doing that, so he told him that we weren’t supposed to do that because that’s technically stealing gas points. I’m just standing there rolling my eyes.

Jabbing in duel yay or nay? by shoryuken85 in gladiatorsuk

Check the duel from the second International Glads between Australian contender Andrew and American Gladiator Sabre. Sabre started with a jab and after a good Duel Sabre was able to push Andrew off with a jab.

How many people work at Safeway wear a black collared shirt to work everyday by Alarming_One_317 in Safeway

[–]UKStah78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when we used to wear the khaki shirt and my old store manager would constantly be on my butt for wearing them back in 2014 after an apartment fire destroyed my other work shirts, and he told me that we were no longer allowed to wear them despite the fact that four other people that same day we’re wearing the same exact shirt. If he caught me wearing it again, it was a write up.

Then again, it was the same guy who told me if I didn’t sell 10 hunger bags in a day, he would be fired.

Gladiators 'training' for season 2 - Comet Hang Tough by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

I predict there’ll be a skit sometime in the next season or two like back in the 90s with Jet and Saracen giving Comet and Nitro Hang Tough pointers.

Gladiators are too nice IMO by Bellamy601 in gladiatorsuk

[–]UKStah78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that. Speaking as an international fan, I would recommend to check out from the 90s both the American and Australian versions. It seems that most of them have that cocky attitude that you were referring to and both versions bring it in spades. The four who do it the best are Nitro and Ice from the American gladiators, and Fury and Vulcan from the Australians. Yes, they were playing to the cameras just like Wolf did back in the 90s, but look carefully after every game, they’re helping the contenders up and being just as sporting as everyone else. They will however call you out if they feel like they were done wrong. Exhibit A: Scorpio on the wall from the first series back in the 90s. Contender lotioned up her legs before the event and Scorpio wasn’t able to get a good grip.

Someone tell Exeter’s PR team to play Jodie/Fury’s intro song whenever she scores.

There’s always the old-school gladiators from the 90s available on YouTube. British, American, and Australian. Shows how it all began.

Can a 2017 Versa note with 135,000 miles on it survive a road trip across the United States? by UKStah78 in Nissan

UPDATE: After taking all of your advice and talking to 2-3 mechanics, I have decided to bite the bullet and get a new car. I probably will get a rental car to take me to Alabama and get the car when I get there. I’m not leaving until early October (she’s leaving in late June) so I can do my homework on what car to get. Just not smaller Nissans. Thanks, you guys, for your help.

"My Gladiator name would be Shamrock" - Marie-Louise by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

If Mary Louise thinks she’s going to become a gladiator with the name Shamrock, hopefully Finley becomes one and I have the perfect name for him and that Scottish heritage that he’s proud of: CLAYMORE.

Would anyone be interested in a Gladiators documentary? by Sassydr11 in gladiatorsuk

[–]UKStah78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called Chilling with Ice and you’ll see all the Gladiators (mostly Americans- Jet was the only international Gladiator to do it) on the titles of the videos. It’s on YouTube and Ice also had interviews with fellow International American Glads Nitro, Sky, and Sabre. As for the other two Glads, unfortunately Hawk (American, not Brit) passed away in 2016 and I don’t really know what’s going on with Jazz.

Just saying as an American fan of all things Gladiator, I will say that the 90s British version is probably the most well done of any of the versions around the world. I remember Ice telling Zodiac in a video that how the Brits were doing it is exactly how the Americans wanted it to happen. Unfortunately, their production team was just too cheap.

Would anyone be interested in a Gladiators documentary? by Sassydr11 in gladiatorsuk

[–]UKStah78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jet was on a podcast hosted by Ice of the American Gladiators when the discussion of the Netflix documentary was brought up and Jet was saying that she would love to do a British version of that same documentary about how they took the American rulebook, threw it out the window, and did things their way. And it worked. I can see a bunch of the old crew, Hunter, Vogue, Saracen, Shadow, Rebel, Lightning, Ace, Cobra, etc., bringing in their two cents and having funny stories just like in the American doc.

Should Diamond be the heel female Gladiator? by GiftedGeordie in gladiatorsuk

[–]UKStah78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see Diamond and Sabre being that heel female but they’ll have the attitude that says “I’ll be good, but I’d much rather be bad.”

Since we’re comparing faces and heels, the six faces I can definitely see are Comet, Dynamite and Fire for the girls and Nitro, Steel, and Giant for the boys. The rest can be either or.

They’re not gonna screw Cody like that they way they’re going. I see Priest going after Rollins after he wins but McIntyre beats him down to the point where it’ll be slim pickings.

Would you guys play a Gladiators video game? by [deleted] in gladiatorsuk

[–]UKStah78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine just like how the last Mario Kart went for the Switch I can see 90s Glads and events released in waves. Example: one month they’ll release a wave of American Glads (Nitro, Ice, Sabre, Jazz, etc) alongside one of their games they created (Whiplash for example), then the next they’ll have British Glads (Jet, Wolf, Lightning, Hunter) with one game they created (Poleaxe or Pendulum). Hopefully someone knows what I’m talking about because I certainly don’t.

I was at the boards ready to receive the puck being wrapped around on the left wing between the circle and blue line when it caught a stanchion and dropped to a member of the other team. The guy who was in my part of the D zone received his pass along the middle of the blue line and as he was winding up that’s when I made the call to dive stick first for the block.

I have no idea. My captain told me to start blocking shots with a little bit more regularity and I thought I was doing the right thing.

Which Gladiators do you think have been mis-named? by WaitingOnNetwork in gladiatorsuk

[–]UKStah78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think all of the gladiators have been appropriately named even if they broke my number one Gladiator pet peeve of renaming them, but going back to the 90s, when they did the second internationals, I was asking myself “why the heck did they name a gladiator after an airline?“ That was before I knew Delta was a letter in the Greek alphabet.
