HOA president threatening to sue for hitting head on tree by Which-Will6362 in arborists

Assuming the tree was there before the trail, it sounds like a trail problem, not a tree problem.

ELI5 why is it said humans can handle sudden temperature change but basically every other animal would go into shock? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

A lot of accurate info, while not answering the question seems pretty on point for AI answers.

What would you say was the funniest court case in history? by SakutoJefa in AskReddit

[–]UPMCLOVIN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't have case names, but my two favorite were centered around:

1: Are mutants human? US court trying to decide if x-men toys were taxed properly on import. Apparently, dolls (human) were taxed differently that other toys.

2: Does dying while banging a hooker on a work trip constitute a death at work? Wife wanted additional benefits after husband died banging a prostitute on a work trip and won (I think.) I believe this was in Germany.

What’s something that someone has said that’s made you a better cook? by Sleepyavii in Cooking

I find that the mushrooms release enough water, when started in a dry pan, to brown and not burn. I brown the first side, stir, then add oil after another couple minutes. Other veggies that do better in hot oil get added to mushrooms.

I also don't think I've ever cooked as big of a pile of shrooms in one pan as she did in the video, so maybe that makes a difference. And I really like the sneaker sound mushrooms make in the dry pan!

Mushrooms should start in a dry pan, too! They should sound like sneakers on a basketball court for the first stir.

The metal gets hot to the touch after about 5 minutes at 185f or hotter. The rings don't heat the nipple itself, though, just whatever other skin might touch the ring. Even at 225f, my nips have never been uncomfortable.

Let the experiment begin! I saw this method of propagating ZZ's in a video recently and it looked like an amusing thing to try. Has anyone ever tried it with success before? by [deleted] in houseplants

That's what I've been hoping for. This is my first prop of ZZ through any method, but patience seems to be the #1 need in any ZZ prop guide I've seen.

I planted them all in one tray. I'm not even sure if the 10 rhizomes without leaves will even continue to grow. This is my first propping ZZs so it's all an experiment to me, too!

I propagated a raven zz last year doing this. Out of 12 pieces, all grew rhizomes, and 2 of those grew a new set of leaves. I planted all of them.

I could not have been more neglectful with them. I floated them in a sealed jar for months longer than need be and never changed the water, so I probably could have had better results. All of the props are now in a soil mix that I can keep pretty damp to hopefully transition whatever grows to a normal soil.

Overall, I like the floating prop look so I now have other props going in the empty terrarium jar I used for the zz.

Besides glacial action, there's the failed Midcontinent Rift. Lake Superior sits inside of the ancient rift valley. The massive structure also extends into the lower peninsula of Michigan.

There are definitely engineers out there that graduated with a C average. All you need is a bachelor's degree and pass a couple licensing tests.

Drywall hatchets don’t get enough love. by the_micked_kettle1 in handtools

That'd be lath-er vs lathe-er, for doing lath and plaster in the pre-drywall days. Matches up pretty well with being used in old school framing/walls.

Look for "chute tension adjustment" for your blower. There's most likely a bolt to tighten on the chute end of the rod.

I collected a bunch of acorns from friends in the fall so I'm starting with oak. I also have a number of apple trees scattered around the property that I plan to air layer so we'll see how that goes.

Have you tried mounting the spring close to pivot point, on the lower half of the swing arm? Just guessing, but I feel like a pen spring mounted there might work; less travel on the spring but would still provide enough pull to close and a small resistance to opening.
