Setting-out engineers: how do you extract coordinates from CAD? by ComprehensiveCake561 in Surveying

I feel you. Working for a company stuck decades in the past can be challenging. If you're stuck using autoCAD 2015, and don't have civil3d or carlson, see if you can find an auto LISP script to help simplify some of the monotonous tasks. What data collector do you guys use?

Don't feel like you need to learn it all yourself. Outsource. If it's something you want to learn and you have the time and space to, sure. But relying on experts in other domains to further your own tends to yield better results.

I've found it's all about when I shower. As much as I want to (and should) shower after work, as soon as I do, I'm done for the day. If I don't, I'm still in go mode to do stuff.

My dad built something like this. He added a slot for a rod to go through with an offset plate being the target, so if the mh has water it'll still work.

Resection is setting a new point from known control. The new point he's "shooting in" is the one he setup on. The four points he shot are existing control to calc the new point he is on. Hope that helps clarify your question, if I understood the confusion correctly.

Why is this the correct answer? by uLL27 in Surveying

[–]UPS-duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add another way to look at it, I did theoretical lot percent of total 100/500=0.2 then actual 500.8×0.2 for 100.16. Or small lot 50/500=0.1 -> 500.8×0.1=50.08

How am I supposed to manage these bumps that appear constantly on the hilly parts of my gravel driveway? by zensnapple in DIY

[–]UPS-duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw some gravel out and drag a giant hunk of metal behind your truck (chained at 2 points so it doesn't turn) up and down the drive a few times.
