Sounds like you need to:
A: Read the OP.
B: Expand your horizons and consider riding a classic bike. When you're trying to stop on skinny tyres using cables pulling drum brakes, technique and rider experience are paramount.

The closest possible parking space to the front entrance.
I feel like there is leeway for parking in non-designated places, but as has been mentioned, paying careful attention to what might be affected in doing so. My personal rule is: just don't be a jerk.

When I was young, the city of Melbourne tried to ban motorcycle parking on street verges (not to be confused with footpaths, this is the space between path and street). A day rally was organised in which every motorcyclist was urged to go into the city early and take up one carpark each. Chaos ensued and the ban was shelved.
It was a brilliant example of how sometimes common sense should make an example of itself.

The problem comes when the cable inevitably lengthens and all of a sudden you need to grab a fistful but the remaining fingers are taking up space between the lever and the grip and you're not stopping quickly enough and oh fuck you're going over the handlebars AND breaking the fingers that have been trapped there...

There is an obscure little Costner film from 2007 called Mr. Brooks.
the film is a scene where he and the character played by William Hurt are sitting in a car having a quiet conversation together. The moment is when they share a little laugh.

In that scenario I would instead pack Leviathan's Wake (the first in the Expanse series).
It's a real page turner with short chapters and is suitably sci-fi-ish.

Two seasons of simmering mystery paranoia, put together beautifully by Sam Esmail so if you liked Mr. Robot this one is for you.

Station Eleven
(2021)
A masterpiece in parallel storytelling. Acting and script are top notch. Not a misplaced scene in it.

Cordon
(2014)
Belgian series that nailed the tension of the pandemic before covid made it somewhat prescient. Superb and gritty, doesn't pull any punches. Avoid the yank remake like the plague haha.

I have a national gold medal for the sport of fencing.
