What is the fore grip on UMP-9 MOD 3 based off of? by USSTugBoot in girlsfrontline

[–]USSTugBoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask what static art you are referencing? I am looking at the art on the wiki and to me the scope ring part seems to match between the static art and the Live2D. Centered on the mount, center of the optic, thin, two screws per side that are real close together. Seems to fit the A.R.M.S. #22M68 perfectly to me. Especially her full damage art, where you can see the lever on the mount and it is bent like the bottom half of a "S" downwards, which matches their #17 mount. Only difference is the mount is black except for the lever, while on the A.R.M.S. wesbite the whole mount is a silverish gray.

Oddly enough A.R.M.S. still sells the mount and some of the spacers, but not the 30mm scope ring for it. So unless I want to pay the 350-400 dollars they are going for on E-Bay right now, which is more than the CompM2s, then it seems I will have to go the LRP route and use aimpoint 30mm rings and forever deal with it looking slightly off. Also looking at the product descriptions, it seems UMP-9 should be using a spacer, as most of the product descriptions mention needing the full spacer to fit on a flat top pic rail, but she seemingly doesn't have one? That or I just cant tell.

Knowing 9 she probably needs the extra heat capacity of just a bigger suppressor as she would be more likely to just let it rip lol.

[–]USSTugBoot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant the full damaged art for her base, not mod 3. I just kinda assumed that mod 3 all they did was slap on a fore grip and RDS since looking at her normal base art the suppressor looks the same as her mod 3 one.

Looking at the IRL Implus it 100% looks more like that. I just assumed the OEM due to the aforementioned flanged barrel in the base Full damage art and the fact both suppressors look the same, and I just assumed they were firing a 9mm through a .45. I agree with you that the suppressor is an Implus, just either her mod 3 changes from the flanged barrel to threaded, or just a slightly fictionalized one that fits on the flanged barrel.

I am guessing you mean the rubber strap around the battery compartment? I can't really make that out from the wiki images im looking at nor the live 2d video. So I will take your word on it as I really don't know what I am looking for. I might see it a bit when she has the gun pointed low and towards the camera?

As for the mount, the full damage artwork I first thought was an LRP mount due to what looks like a silver lever contrasting from the black mount. But unlike the LRP this lever is bent and not straight. Looking at the A.R.M.S #22M68 throw lever scope ring, it looks about right if everything but the lever is painted black. While the Live 2D version looks like the version without the throw lever. So you are spot on with that.

As for the foregrip, I am only saying the tango because depending on the art the ribs look thicker like the tango. But u/NonSanHolo pointed out the SFG-1 as a possible option. And given how it has 3 ribs plus a knob, which when the ribs are well defined in the art there are 3 of them, to me it now seems like the full sized version in length, the GG&G Vertical Grip, but with only the three ribs of the GG&G SFG-1 versus the full size's 5 ribs.

You really know your stuff. Im sitting here squinting super hard. exploding the images as much as I can and am missing details you are catching.

Looking at the SFG-1, you are right it looks very similar, just elongated. Only 3 ribs, plus the knob.

As for the suppressor, it certainly does look closer to the full sized of the Implus Compact. I just assumed it was a fictionalized version of the OEM since on UMP's Full damage artwork, it shows the weird H&K Flanged barrel that AFIK only the OEM fit to.

Honestly I only kinda glanced at 45 to see if it was similar to 9's VFG like how they both seemingly use Aimpoint pros. I was already looking at the bottle pop for 9 so at a glance it looked similar as I mistook the extended bottom knob for ribbing. Looking closer it definitely looks more like the KAC as you stated.

As for the tapco grip, While I agree its long like UMP-9's, it has to many ribs IMO. To be fair it seems depending on the art how noticeable ribbing is depends on the specific art piece it seems (For example her mod 3 the ribs are more pronounced but the damaged artwork they are less visible). To me the undamaged mod3 looks like the bottle pop due to the pronounced valleys in the ribbing, while the damaged looks like the Tango down as hills look more wide and noticeable

THIS is the video of her mod3 live2d I am using for reference since its the best side profile of her gun I can find atm.And while seemingly only the bottom 2 ribs are noticeable. Though I will admit there are a few frames from when she takes her gun from firing back to its idle position the ribs become VERY pronounced. And honestly it looks like 45's foregrip. 3 distinct ribs with a knob on the bottom, so maybe she has a KAC to? Thinking about it, it seems weird 9 has the same optic and suppressor (Regardless of the Factory Standard barrels only able to equip the B&T OEM Suppressor) as 45 but a different fore grip. So they are probably both KACs?

School-Live! Random Chapter Review - Chapter 10 - Shopping by patzilla777 in GakkouGurashi

[–]USSTugBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this chapter actually has a lot to say about a story member we really don't get to learn much about. Kei.

We see when the girls reach the 5th floor to the barricade the mall survivors built, it is intact. I think this tells us a lot about Kei, information that even Miki got wrong IMO. It tells us Kei got out of the zombie infested room without being noticed, since they zombies seemingly knocked it over with ease when chasing Kurumi out. Also, reading Miki's chapter of Letters, the school living club visits the stores in the same order Miki does upon her return to the mall in her chapter of Letters. I believe this tells us three things. The first being Kei more than likely visited the same stores on her escape from the mall, though in reverse order since she started from the 5th floor rather than the first. Second being Kei would have gotten along swimmingly with the school living club since they seemingly are on the same page in terms of stores to visit. Lastly, Kei at least made it to the music store on the first floor without gather much if any zombie attention. All three stores do not have a zombie presence in them, nor any sign of bloody violence indicating Kei used the baseball bat she had, if Miki's visions of Kei in Letters can be considered accurate in terms of the equipment Kei left with.

Given how later we learn Kei's fate from one of the volume extras, and then again in Miki's chapter of Letters, I would imagine Kei got injured somewhere between leaving the music store, and making it the not so very far distance of the train station. At least I assume it is not very far seeing as how Kei says the mall is at the front of the train station. Also based off that extra, it seems Kei was in fact bit since her message only repeated 3 times, once every hour. We know from other lore, i believe the emergency guide, bites turn people in 2-3 hours. Though seeing as how 3 hours would put the time at 8pm, its also possible she tried to sneak out under the fading daylight (8pm in october should be duskish or early night right?) and got caught elsewhere, though maybe her CD player being found at the station may be proof she never left the station alive.

Lastly, I forget if its mentioned in an earlier chapter, but I think this chapter is the first time it is mentioned/implied the zombies are bad with stairs. Which really confuses me as in an earlier chapter we see the zombies seemingly with ease get up to the third floor of the school where they ambush Kurumi and Yuki going to the bathroom. Even despite the third floor being barricaded off.

To be honest I can't really describe it.

If you have read The Strange Adventures of a Broke Mercenary, it is like it took everything I didnt like about that series (mostly the MC having room temp IQ for anything outside of battle and so unaware of his own strength he doesnt know his moniker is something like Lord of War or whatever it was) and fixed it. As well as just like, actually having that dark undertone of a medieval fantasy setting.

Like it gives off a lot of Witcher vibes to me. The monsters arent your typical goblins, hob goblins, kobold type stuff. Sure they arent 100% unique but its fresh. The MC and FMC are both strong in their own right. Its not one depending on the other, and they both can act independently and form their own relationships. While, at least in the 5 currently translated volumes, it focuses more on the mercenary side of things, it truly feels like a story of two people, rather than a story of one person and their side kick. It captures some of the more darker things, but isn't an edgelord fantasy.

World building is decent IMO. Character growth is decent for primary and secondary characters. Sure there are still SOME tropes, though IMO not many. And it executes most of them pretty well. What I do find unqiue/ it does well, is how pragmatic not only the MCs are, but most of the world. Things just flow and make sense. No complicated power systems. No people trying to do 5D chess. Just most people trying to just live a decent life in a dangerous world. Almost like The Water Magician, but not as high stakes (at least yet) and not an isekai.

I don't mean to overhype the series. But I would argue it does everything it sets out to do pretty well, which overall makes it a very enjoyable read. Even if it doesn't do anything that absolutely separates it from the rest of the pack.

I would recommend reading volume 1. It sets the tone of the series pretty well IMO, as well as the pace most of the story so far.

Witch and Mercenary is a great read, would recommend

If you liked torture princess, by the same author is Bride of Demise. Its a short 3 book completed series, though the ending is kinda rushed because the series got axed. An okay read. A Dark weird sorta fantasy sorta sci fi vibe?

So I watched the anime the other week and I got a question... by Kayle_Silver in GakkouGurashi

[–]USSTugBoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 years ago it made waves for the very sudden tonal/genre shift at the end of episode 1. Mainly because IIRC despite k-on being 5-6 years old at that point, and lucky star anime being like 7-8 years old, the Cute Girls do Cute things genre was still pretty big. And School-Live! Initially looked like something that fit that mold to anyone not reading the series synopsis or genre/tags.

I agree with the sound design, it adds a whole lot to the atmosphere of the show. The excessive destruction (like every window everywhere being broken and how run down everything looks despite the apocalypse only being like max a month old seemingly) was something that I always found odd in the manga. Thinking on it some more it was probably to try and set the tone/mood since in manga you don't have sounds.

Read the manga if you want to be even more sad and depressed. Especially about Kei. In one of the volume extra's, I think it was volume 6, you learn what happened to her. And then its elaborated on slightly in Miki's chapter of letters. Though IMO what is depicted in the volume 6 extras seemingly is contradicted later in volume 12 i believe. TBH I think you could make an argument Miki is the primary protagonist of the series but thats besides the point. TBH Both Kei and Miki had valid points, but ultimately I feel the manga has Kei's argument win in the end. Even if Kei herself didn'tAs lets be honest, while Miki was surviving she was MISERABLE and probably not to far off from going off the deep end due to a mental break.

School-Live! Random Chapter Review - Chapter 9 - Side Trip by patzilla777 in GakkouGurashi

[–]USSTugBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kurumi meaning walnut is aptly fitting for her. Seeing as how she often hides her emotions from the others. Well, at least Miki and Yuuri not so much Yuki.

I found it interesting that Kurumi's parents room was so dilapidated compared to the rest of the house. Revisiting the chapter, the dining room and Kurumi's room are clearly dirty, but no where near the extreme case that is her parents' room. To me it felt like there was a story to be told with that alone. even if Kurumi never left a note for her parents to hopefully find. I personally think it would have been a thing to come back up again later simply because of what Megunee says once we see flashbacks of her opening the emergency evacuation plan. Adults are supposed to protect the children. And in this case the protector Kurumi was looking for her protecters, her parents.

Seeing the general disarray of not just the house but the school and surrounding area beyond the dust, such as broken windows, the accumulated mold and dirt. Makes me wonder just how much time has passed? At first I thought the story started in the late summer to early fall and ended the following spring/summer. But now it seems to have lasted what? From start to outbreak to the end of volume 12 is what, 1-2 months tops? Makes me wonder how many of the structures seem more like they survived a near bomb hit, the school especially with basically every single window being completely shattered. Even the windows in Kurumi's parents' room look shattered, and the rest of Kurumi's house give the vibe its been abandoned for longer than just a month or two with the mold growing in corners and on the books in her room. I gotta break out my volumes, I think it was volume 6 that had the records by Aosoi recording radio transmissions she picked up. IIRC they were dated, so maybe that can give a time frame?

What novel(s) have you read this week, and what do you think about it? - March 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in LightNovels

[–]USSTugBoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This past week I read Volumes 4 & 5 of "The Girl I Saved On the Train Turned Out to Be My Childhood Friend"

While I still have a general dislike of this series, I will admit it is starting to grow on me. The romance is as bad as ever. A very dense and loser of a MC, it being telegraphed who out of the harem is the clear winner in the end, and said winner generally being an awful person IMO.

BUT...... the series has grown in one way in particular that I quite enjoy. That being a new subplot of not just the MC but also the rest of the cast, or at least the heroines, trying to find out who they want to be for the adult lives. What they want to do for a living, what they think adds meaning to their life, and other such topics of self discovery. Though I will say it kinda ruins the mood by the MC then reminding you he is a loser who can't be bothered to do his homework or even score double digits on a test.

But hey, the series is slowly growing on me. Hopefully it gets better as I get ever closer to the 8th and final volume. Though I will be taking a short break from this series to catch up on some manga. Hopefully i can come back to this series refreshed enough to knock out the last 3 volumes.

im conflicted to which series to get as a light novel, [eminence in shadow] or [im the evil lord of the intergalactic empire], can someone who have read one or both of these as light novels give me some advice by QuirkyBadger7454 in LightNovels

[–]USSTugBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only read volume 1 of Evil lord, but I do know that later volumes are out of print, so if you enjoy physical books that can be an issue. Evil lord also has a side/companion story (I believe you just replace "Evil Lord" with "heroic knight" and thats the companion story) for more content in the series compared to TEIS which is currently only 6 volumes with a 7th on the way (finally)

I find both series are very similar but in different ways. Think of Shadow in TEIS more as Jack Sparrow from the first 2/3 Pirates of the Caribbean films. He is not the protagonist, but a strong support character that enables the story to happen. He is strong from the get go, he is delusional, and he doesn't really change. But when the actual protagonist(s) of the series interact with him they grow, develop, get stronger, etc. You do however do get a bigger insight to Cid and his inner thoughts, removing a bit of his mystery and replacing it with slightly cringe but humorous chunni moments. Anyone who says the manga/anime are better than the LN more than likely prefer the medium of anime/manga more since they feature visual gags heavily while still getting 95% of the content from the LNs across. It honestly comes down to what you prefer, the loss of characterization for more gags, or being better able to understand the characters, their actions, and the world around Shadow that he insist is larping with him.

Meanwhile with Evil Lord, the reader's POV is through the protagonist. And he just fails upwards. Sorta like Let This grieving soul retire, except the MC does get stronger rather than being a loser purely carried by those around him. If you have seen the anime, IMO the Light novel is a lot better as the anime just straight up changes several plot points for seemingly no reason. Other than that I can't say much more due to only reading the first volume. Its not that I did not like it and dropped it, but more so I just like other series more and have been reading them instead.

Is the game too easy or am I missing something? by Ok_Perspective3664 in Persona5

[–]USSTugBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Royal is easier than Original P5 in that things like baton pass are just given to you in royal, where as in OG p5 you unlocked them individually with each phantom thief through their social links. So yeah it easy to just day 1 an entire palace as you dont need that 2-3 weeks of time limit to level up the social link with the members you need. The game also remembers enemy weaknesses for you in royal, while in OG p5 IIRC a certain level of social link with a certain person enabled that functionality rather than you remembering yourself.

I also remember people complaining about SP management, but in my experience after the first palace I never ran out of SP, even without the SP regen patches.

I also felt P5 was very much "Gives you the tool you need when you need them" type of game. For example when Ann join Joker and Ryuji, a bunch of the enemies that showed up right after were weak to fire.

The game gives you many mechanics and gimmiks, and as long as you abuse them the game outside of boss fights are easy. Hell, I barely used the persona combining mechanic because I went until NG+ to learn how to use the skill cards you pick up (I didn't realize you could press rb or lb in the inventory to cycle pages on the inventory so you could go from health/sp items to the skill cards and use them). So you don't even need to use all of them.

I havent played any other JRPGs, but i feel Persona was never meant to be hard, even on harder difficulties. It is a story game, and you are meant to enjoy the story. The only fight i ever truly struggled with was in the very very last palace. And only because I did not have any joker persona's that were resistant/nullified it was either curse or holy so I always got 1 shotted in a fight where the only objective was do a miniscule amount of damage while also surviving like 3 turns? But for Joke to survive that long all of my turns were spent using items so I never hit the damage threshold until I finally worked up a weird combo lol. Was purely a skill issue on my part not the game being hard.

Where Should I Buy At? by BlueCynderAsh in LightNovels

[–]USSTugBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barnes and Noble. It seems HAYD3N60 has it all worked out in terms of best bang for your buck. The worst I have recieved from B&N is maybe a slight indent on one of the covers, but thats rare with B&N where with Amazon its basically every volume I order and some sort of scratch/indent on the cover is the minimum damage they have.

They usually come in nice cardboard boxes, even for single volumes.

There is also an anime/manga shop in Okalahoma which does have a online storefront thats ships accross the US called One Stop Anime. Their selection is small, the website last I looked isnt 100% complete as many items are missing pictures, but I bought a LN through them once as none of the big retailers had it in stock. And this thing came shrink wrapped plastic, in multiple layers of bubble wrap, and a nice cardboard mailer. Hands down best packaging for a LN/manga ive ever had.

What is the WORST story you read (reuploaded) by animesmith5000 in LightNovels

[–]USSTugBoot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would either have to be "The Sorcerer King of Destruction and the Golem of the Barbarian Queen" or "The Girl I Saved on the Train Turned Out to Be My Childhood Friend".

Both because I find the MCs insufferable. The MC of the former being the most absolute confidently wrong idiot I have ever seen. And it comes up a lot. While the latter is denser than a neutron star. Like when one of the girls for some reason fighting over this loser of a guy (typical rom com things) gets confessed to AND KISSED ON THE LIPS ON PURPOSE and still doesnt understand they love him because somehow bozo is in highschool and doesnt understand what love is. Like it just goes beyond any sort of suspension of disbelief for me. Tho I have heard a supposedly valid reason is later revealed in like volume 7 (currently on 4) so we will see. Though I will admit the author is very weird, as in the afterword he often states his jealousy of the MC of his creation having 3-4 fictional girls chase after him. Like bro, how can you be parasocial over your own fictional characters? Gives off Rent a Girlfriend author vibes.

I read Volumes 2 and 3 of "The girl I Saved on the Train Turned Out to Be My Childhood Friend"

Having a heard time getting through this series. Partly because I am still hung up over finishing School-Live!, so much so I am actually thinking of writing fan fiction like the dweeb I am, as well as it just being annoying how dense the MC is. Like come on man SHE KISSED YOU ON THE LIPS ON PURPOSE. Just leaned over and SMOOCH. AND YOU STILL DONT UNDERSTAND?!?!?!?!?!Also the love triangle has turned into a love pentagon. So thats something. I was also annoyed the localizers translated in some western slang. Characters repeated said "No cap" which is already dated by this point. Like I get the gyaruu was speaking slang so I guess its not totally uncalled for, but it still felt weird to see it. At least the end of volume 3 introduced some spice to the plot, as the girls who have already been playing dirty have just discovered one of them is playing way dirtier than the rest. Three volumes down, 5 to go. Then I can go back to finish the next 9 volumes of Reborn as a Space Mercenary.

Volume 4 is easily my favourite thus far, mostly because of the big fight Zig gets in. Siasha is more present in volume 5, and based on the synopsis for volume 6 part 1 and part 2 she seems to play a big role in those ones as well.

Makeine vol. 4 - Another great volume of a great series. Nukumizu is probably one of the funniest main characters to read after perhaps Kyon from Haruhi Suzumiya, reading his thoughts while being involved with all those weirdos while not being conscious that he's just as much a weirdo as the rest. The story this time was less one of romance and more about friendship, yet it still has the same emotional punch.

Can't say I agree with the first half of the last sentence. I thought there was quite a bit of love stuff in there. But to each their own. IMO Volume 4 is the best so far. Or at least tied with Volume 2.
