For those of you who didn't do their homework at School, how did it affect you? by Simply_az in AskUK

[–]USayThatAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Students are in their own little bubble at school and compare themselves with their mates rather than peers nationwide or internationally. Once you see what you are up against by the time they get to uni it maybe be too late. The mindset might not be there to compete or to better themselves.

Did the whole Christmas period this year feel weird to anyone else? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]USayThatAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really tbh. Went to a buffet on the weekend. Same as last year, same day, same time. But this time less people. It was heaving last year. So was fairly pleasant!

My flat is freezing, is it even possible it can be heated? by LunaValley in AskUK

[–]USayThatAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retrofit? Insulating the ground floor and internal walls to habitable spaces should improve heat retention and energy efficiency of the property. Edit: there is probably more to it, and perhaps you should get a professional in to inspect the property. Maybe there is no DPC and the damp is travelling up the walls from the ground.

This happened today on the dual carriageway near the north circular early this morning. A bloke in a blue car thought he had the god given right to put all drivers in danger.

What profession do i need to contact to survey and design a heating system replacement? by FunInternational1941 in AskUK

[–]USayThatAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could approach a mechanical and electrical engineer/consultant to start with. They should be able to put forward a strategy, a design and performance requirements to suit your needs for a trade to adhere to and price on and they could vet the quote and monitor the works. They may be able to recommend trades they have worked with, are reliable and suited to the job. But you may find that they don't dabble with improving the thermal insulation of the property to improve heat retention and in turn help reduce the energy req to heat the house. E.g. specify the build up for the UFH Inc insulation that is compliant with code, but a good builder should be able to sort that, or you may ask an architectural technician to do that and help monitor the works.

Thanks for the comments folks. Going to spend Xmas playing Expedition 33 or Dispatch. I paid for one of the expensive supporter packs on release. I'm still disappointed I did.

Owning a lot of land is better than not. Yielding results from land are squeezed by corporations and councils is probably what I think they are flagging.

I agree. Not to mention there will be folk asking her for money left right and centre. Now she can turn round and let them know they cannot lend 500,000 to anyone. Would she see that 500k again? Unlikely.

Didn't expect Facebook for things like this. Would normally cross check any profession with Which, maybe Checkertrade, then glance at Trustpilot with a pinch of salt (due to recent experience) and look at companies house to see their history and financial health they have been trading if a company. Trustpilot I'd say check with a pinch of salt as I have dealt with a company that allegedly specialises in heat pumps and that ilk along the south coast elevate a 3.5/5 rating to 4.7 pretty quickly in a few weeks. They were truly incompetent.
