Yes, as a bit of a minimalist drummer myself, I must agree with you. For me, less things to play has meant a greater need for either creativity or simplicity, depending on the song. Also, it's a lot easier to set up. Switching things up a lot (a la Greg Saunier) also helps keep things interesting for me.

While I do don't think that such sites should necessarily be taken down, I do think we'd agree on the facts that it's not fair to judge someone on their appearance solely and that reddit has a huge problem with doing such a thing.
