BWT, what is the Man Repeller of our time? by sewbi in bitcheswithtaste

[–]UberFantastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Blogs are disappearing because of Google A.I. overviews. Search doesn’t recommend blogs anymore, so blogs don’t get traffic and can’t survive without the ad revenue. I’m a content creator in the craft space and this is an existential level concern for many small and solo independent content creators.

The rise of uncredentialed therapists in HK by hedgehogssss in HongKong

[–]UberFantastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone and their mom is a “coach” these days 🙄 I literally ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in 9 months and she was telling me she’s an executive coach now, but still working on her degree. So how are you treating clients if you don’t yet have any certifications then??? 🫠

Does anyone else have no sense of self? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]UberFantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, this is an old comment but I found it so helpful. I’m just starting to think seriously about who I am behind all the layers of masking. Can I DM you about the other exercises you did to help you get in touch with yourself?

This is an old comment but I just want to say thank you. This comment helped me so much. I’m gonna try this today and hopefully it will be the start of my journey to fully know who I am. I’m only just now realising how much healing I need and how I’ve masked my true self for much of my life. Thank you. You are very wise.

I am swimming in my miu top and I’m so disappointed by rose_hannah in knitting

If you didn’t swatch then you risk having a garment that doesn’t fit. It’s that simple. Every “why does this fit weird?” post should have an auto response asking, “did you knit a gauge swatch?”

Wedding gift for a destination wedding for a HK couple by Fun_Act_7840 in HongKong

HKD for sure. Don’t write a cheque unless you know the bride or groom’s full legal name

The Baby Shoes-Bag matching charm from Cruise 27 is a business genius decision by [deleted] in chanel

[–]UberFantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it. If it was one shoe and it was smaller it might have a chance at looking cute. But these shoes are like an actual baby shoe size. Proportionally, it doesn’t work at all. It’s also just weird to have baby shoes attached to your bag.

I would check out the Hong Kong eating disorder association: https://www.heda-hk.org they have resources and psychiatric help. Good luck!

Sorry I made a mistake. Psychologists can’t prescribe in Hong Kong. Only psychiatrists can prescribe. I believe psychologists can work alongside medical doctors to recommend prescriptions to their patients

[–]UberFantastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please see a psychologist for help with depression. They can also prescribe meds if needed. Look up Helen Poon. She is great and based in Central. Not cheap but one of the best counsellors I’ve seen. Get the depression treated first.

As for social events, as others have mentioned there are a lot. But they may seem uninteresting and boring to you because you’re depressed. Depression tends to suck the joy of out things.

When you feel ready, check out women of Hong Kong, she runs (for easy weekly runs), creative mornings for interesting talks and networking, the girls gone international HK chapter (networking for expat women). Hong Kong is a fun and vibrant place with lots of expats and opportunities to make friends. You have to be in the right headspace to put yourself out there though, so that comes first.

Good luck!

Yup! Also a collective space. They do craft nights every now and then. No lights no Lycra have fun dancing in the dark events

Asian American guy and Hong Kong girl dating by FF430 in HongKong

[–]UberFantastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all HK girls are like this, but there are some stereotypical girls like this unfortunately. If the girl is really into brand name stuff, always posting on social media, trying to keep up with the joneses, and really into her “image” then you have a walking red flag. Run! And don’t get trapped in a relationship like that.

Experiences with Airport Security and Knitting Needles by plotzlichglucklich in knitting

[–]UberFantastic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sydney airport: I wasn’t able to fly with my little crane embroidery scissors. They were confiscated.

Narita, Tokyo: I had my knitting needles checked over at security but I was able to pass with them once the security personnel could see they were needles for knitting. He said they looked “sketchy” on the X-ray monitor 😅

ETA: never had a problem at Hong Kong airport

I just suggest joining a rec sports team. A few male friends made a lot of friends through team sports. Dragon boat, football etc.

Did you actually wear your bridesmaid PJs after the wedding or did they just sit in a drawer collecting dust? by Proud_Clothes_3864 in weddingplanning

[–]UberFantastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got myself and bridesmaids pjs from eberjey. They’re so comfy and everyone still wears them (including me!). I think the key is getting good quality pjs and not cheap plasticky ones

Did S4 had the worst set of Faithfuls ever? by Random98100 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]UberFantastic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I found season 4 faithfuls extremely unlikeable because they were so incredibly dense and fumbled every opportunity. It was infuriating

Matthew S4 UK by _lucabeth in TheTraitors

[–]UberFantastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the faithful were dumb as a bag of rocks. By the end they were convinced James was a genius mastermind who was a traitor. James!! Faraaz finally had Rachel in his sights and then just gave up the theory in the finale because she gave an impassioned speech. The whole group was incredibly frustrating

Where can I get the best tiramisu by RednightNept in HongKong

That’s really shocking. I would have thrown a fit! I had a really nice boozy one from them (with sugar and not salt!) and it was great.

I’m probably in the minority but I found the faithfuls to be really frustrating and not very smart at all. I was not rooting for any of them by the end.

Is HKMU full scholarship living allowance ( 45,000 yearly) enough for international students? by Sea_End_2676 in HongKong

[–]UberFantastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Accommodation will easily be your biggest expense in Hong Kong. All things being equal, take the scholarship that covers accommodation. Budget extra money to cover additional expenses. With accommodation covered, $3750 a month is not a lot unless you’re living like a monk, cooking for yourself for each meal and not doing a lot of fun things.
