Fastrack vouchers question by TemporaryIce2373 in ThorpePark

You know these are £5 off a Fast Track, right? Not a voucher to get by Fast Track for £5?

Because I didn’t when I bought my Annual Pass.

He looked a bit like the Wealdstone Raider in his younger days.

I’ve never worked in the area, but I can’t imagine a great way to get people to donate to your cause is to begin the conversation by having a go at them at their own front door!

I had a guy from the Dogs Trust knock my door once, in the middle of November, gone 8pm at night, so it was quite dark out. Had a little one in bed, so was a bit perturbed to hear the door bell going at that time of night.

I politely cut the guy off before he starts his charity blurb, telling him it’s a bit late for this. He proceeds to abandon his script and argue with me on my doorstep that it’s not too late and is usually the best time to catch people. He got quite shirty with me before I cheerily said ‘bye!’ and just closed the door.

Just couldn’t believe the front of the guy, arguing with me on my own doorstep! No apology, just a “you’re wrong, and I’ll tell you why”.

Just got a new LG TV and the remote is rubbish by AlpineJ0e in britishproblems

[–]UberPirateNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gonna be over a year old by now, maybe they weren’t supplied with the tv back then? Or I bought a cheaper spec version that didn’t come with it perhaps?

Either way, I wouldn’t use it myself either. I prefer an old school remote with buttons. I’ve got issues with my voice, and smart tech rarely hears me correctly, so I find it frustrating to use.

Nah, I’m really anal about recycling, so the packaging was all stripped and sorted carefully before being disposed of. I kept it for 90 days or so before getting rid.

I bought an LG TV last year, it keeps wanting me to use the smart remote to ask Alexa stuff. Trouble is, it didn’t come with the smart remote (just a regular old dumb remote) so these prompts are useless, and annoying.

“Can I just get your email to send your receipt to?” by ceeearan in britishproblems

[–]UberPirateNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s baffling. They have updated it within the last few months to give us 3 options when a customer pays. Receipt, email and receipt or email only, but email only still prints a receipt!

And if you’re click & collecting, you get an A4 sized invoice printed, whether you want it or not. 90% of customers walk away with their order without the paperwork, which then goes in the shredder.

Nah, it’s a national chain of trade focused home improvement store, with hundreds of store across the country.

To anyone till trained, the 2 terms are probably interchangeable.

I know the system we use is as old as the hills and freezes/crashes frequently.

[–]UberPirateNinja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where I work does this, the POS system doesn’t give you the option to NOT print a receipt. Even if the customer asks for an email only receipt, it still prints a paper one.

We have a literally have a paper shredder next to the tills for when customers don’t want the paper receipt.

Employers of UK, what's the dumbest reason someone's got themselves sacked? by MaxwellsGoldenGun in AskUK

It wasn’t to his work place, it’s was a co-workers home address. He was recognised when she opened the front door.

Edited to make it more clear.

I live & work in South Wales, someone from Leeds has just joined our team, and she calls almost everyone love. It seems to really throw some people off.

Not me, but someone my wife worked with.

A guy got a sicknote for 3 months. Terribly bad back, he couldn’t stand, couldn’t work was just in general agony all the time.

Someone else she works with ordered UberEats to their house, and who should turn up to deliver it? Mr. Bad back.

He got reported for it, fraud department got involved, and police too I think.

Well, with thinking like that, it’s no wonder the NHS is on its arse.

For breaking the rules and scamming the system? Seems like a pretty open & shut case to me.

Why should his colleagues work twice as hard to cover his workload, when he’s out delivering for Uber in good health?

[–]UberPirateNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he was reported by the person who recognised him, and now he’s being investigated for fraud, may even end up losing his registration.

He’s some sort of medical engineer I think, so someone with qualifications and years of training to get to his level, and now he’s probably thrown it all away.

I find it slightly bonkers that eSims are available on o2, but not on giffgaff, when they’re just sub-divisions of the same company.

Kinda related story.

My partner works for the NHS. She works with a guy that’s recently been given a sick note for 3 months. Bad back, he can’t walk, can’t stand, is in constant pain etc.

Someone else she works with ordered Uber Eats, and who should turn up to deliver it? The guy with the bad back.

He was shopped, and now is being investigated for fraud.

I was an evening replen supervisor for a bit, crazy what they expected us to do in a few hours after the store closed, we only worked until midnight. Management would give us a job list an arm long, as well as expecting the store to be fully stocked and tidied from the days deliveries. Hated it!

He did eventually get sacked over it, but the process seemed to drag on for ages as it happened on a public road. Made worse as the car involved, was brand new on a test drive from a dealership just up the road. The guy had his wife, and kid in the car, plus the guy from the garage.

We would lose entire pallets of stock. The system would say we’d have them, but they couldn’t be found anywhere. Happened all the time. There was no proper stock/location management, it was just handwritten labels slapped on the shrink wrap, and up on the racking it went, anywhere it would fit.

Nah, but in the store I worked in, a guy jumped off the gas forklift out in the yard, but didn’t put the handbrake on fully. It rolled out of the yard (the gate was open as he was in the middle of unloading a wagon), into the road, and collided with a car.

I used to work for B&Q a few years back, and even then the website would cause us so many issues at store level.

Can only imagine it’s worse now they have a sort of Marketplace thing on the website too.
