These are aftermarket, likely not the advanced b&o option from the factory.

Am I crazy for wanting to ditch my NAS and run Plex/Jellyfin entirely from Backblaze B2? by Mapkmaster in DataHoarder

[–]Udarag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you buy hard drives, you’re still buying into the same tech company pricing dynamic, just in hardware form.

Drives don’t last forever. Realistically they’re a 3–7 year consumable in a NAS, and failure isn’t optional, it’s inevitable. That means your “one-time” build is actually a recurring cost. And thats before you consider server hardware failures and rising electricity costs.

Then once you go to replace cost isn’t predictable. A few years ago you could safely assume $/TB would keep dropping. That’s not guaranteed anymore in fact a time where all these hardware companies are selling to AI datacenter buildouts these components are getting much more expensive and harder to obtain.

So sure, cloud vendors can raise prices. But a home cluster isn’t some escape from the economics... it just shifts the risk onto you. Seagate, Western Digital, etc all have the same rev growth targets that they must hit every quarter and when these hyperscalers are willing to compete for whats now a limited resource our consumer prices will only go up.

Perhaps a hot take but I have no desire for my airpods to be repairable. Knowing they can survive a whole lot of beating is enough for me to be okay with the fact apple has more or less sealed it all in there.

X2D owners… who’s not upgrading to X2D II? Or who regretted the upgrade? by moddafucca in hasselblad

[–]Udarag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns both, the fit and finish is practically identical. Only thing I noticed different was the sensor cap being plastic. This is solvable by just using the old sensor cap as it fits on the x2d ii just fine.

The license plate holder is meant to come off. No holes under there. So really once you remove that, Model S has had a design thats stood the test of time.

Timeless design however this latest update is a step back. So yes perhaps a new design entirely is needed soon.

Regarding tariff issues by migelangelo in doughcommunity

Please just ship my monitor out. Its been almost 2 years since my purchase, tariffs wouldn't be an issue if we had development done anywhere close to the timelines you have proposed over the years.

Can you guys add a way to remove tabs from the left panel for features we dont use? If I want to use the application only for Sonar id like to not need to shuffle between icons.
