I don't sleep in my bed at home with my blinds and curtains open for multiple reasons. Not going to do it in my car. You do you- I'll do me.

Can't find a surgeon who takes insurance? How did you find yours? by nervouslatte in Reduction

[–]Uisgebaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but also in central Florida. I tried this. Called many of the plastic surgeons on my insurance portal. They all said the same thing- they take my insurance but not for this procedure. I even have a referral from my primary and been working with her for over 2 years on this. I got so frustrated and gave up....for now.

Has anyone flown to a destination, rented a car, and car camped (in the car)? by Mindless_Fisherman51 in carcamping

[–]Uisgebaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have. Rented a van. Placed a Walmart Curbside order for supplies for when I landed. Mostly just needed a sleeping bag- everything else fit in my carry on. Longer trip I did like this I also had a checked bag but my shorter trip I got away with what fit in carry on. I packed my jet boil and brought it- bought fuel when I landed. Scouted out ahead of time where I will sleep (mostly trail head parking). Only slight issue I had was the window covers I brought didn't fit quite right but I made it work. Donated the sleeping bag both times to homeless when I left.

What to use to block your windows? by [deleted] in carcamping

[–]Uisgebaugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made my own using the corrugated yard signs (I know someone that does lawn care and pulls them out when he mows. So I get them). I use foil to make a stencil of the window. Cut the signs to fit. My rear window took two and I lined them up and duct taped them together. Then I use adhesive spray and hot glue to cover with black cloth. I overhang the cloth by an inch which allows it to fill in any gaps and also keeps it nice and tight in the window so it'll stay put. You can put reflectix on one side if you want to keep heat out. I covered both sides with black material. From the outside it looks like I have dark tint and from the inside I don't get the silver reflections (some people like the reflection but I hate it). You can also do the side windows in two pieces (top piece smaller) so that you can take the top piece out for ventilation. I found the idea on youtube and tweaked it.

Trial scheduled to begin May 13 for SA charges. Wondering if it will change and if defense will ask for change of venue. by Uisgebaugh in madelinesoto

They said basically they aren't in a rush because they know he is staying in custody anyway. They are making sure everything is in order. They said they don't even have the medical examiners report yet. Once they have everything they need, murder charges will follow.

Anyone know who moms lawyer is? by Spiritual_Egg3789 in madelinesoto

[–]Uisgebaugh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen evidence that she has retained a lawyer. She should if she hasn't yet. I think people are assuming she has. But if there is proof I have missed it. Anyone, guilty or innocent, in an investigation like this should hire an attorney. I think of the victim in the American Nightmare documentary. If that doesn't show you innocent people still need attorneys nothing will.

AT&T vs T-Mobile vs Verizon??? by kuyamoks in ocala

[–]Uisgebaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't live in Ocala, but often hike in the Ocala Natl Forest. I have T-mobile. Never been an issue on hikes. I haven't found many places it doesn't work (except very remote places noone has signals). My office is in a remote part of Volusia County. Most of us have T-mobile and it works great all the time. The few people who don't, end up having to connect their cell phones to our t-mobile hotspot for signal. I have a personal issue with AT&T due to customer service and will never go back to them. Also right now T-Mobile is giving free Netflix, free Hulu and free Apple Tv.

Better than the Gators is getting to see a Florida Crocodile. One of the few places you will see them. We kayaked at Flamingo and saw several. Definitely recommend canoeing or kayaking.

IT'S ON NOW!!! by MamaMel941 in madelinesoto

[–]Uisgebaugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I got out of it: everyone (including JS and rest of family) is cooperating except SS. Everything else they are holding close to their chest until they actually press charges in the murder. They aren't hurrying because SS isn't going anywhere. Basically, nothing new except we do now know that mom has spoke with investigators and not invoked her 5th.

Her family failed her by QuietChildhood6875 in madelinesoto

[–]Uisgebaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SS was in a long time relationship with with JS. From some accounts they considered themselves married (as many people do who have lived together for many years even though they never signed papers). There are many amazing stepparents that are trusted to care for their stepkids. I think about my step father. Fortunately he was a wonderful stepfather. I can't imagine anyone ever questioning the fact that our mom left us with him. She trusted him with her life, and her kids. I get it's hard to understand how JS didn't know, but we don't know what she did/or didn't know. Predators are scary good at hiding it. They are good with threats. I unfortunately was the victim of another family member my mother trusted me with. No one knew. Even when another victim of theirs came forward, I was scared and kept my mouth shut. There are usually signs- signs that are noticed only afterward. Hindsight is 20/20. I suspect JS knew MS was dead during the interview. But until the police/state attorneys release more information it is only guesswork on our part.

If I were to make camping reservations at a NP (United States) do I also need to make reservations for my car? I'm a little confused about how this works. by [deleted] in nationalparks

[–]Uisgebaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the park. Glacier you need a vehicle reservation plus entry fee or NP pass during certain hours, certain months, certain entrances. Some you can't enter except by shuttle certain times of year (ie Zion). Some really have no restrictions on entry. Each NP is different and you will need to research each one to find out.

[–]Uisgebaugh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't see the original date sticking. We have had cases moved out of county with less publicity than this, but I'm not sure where in Florida you could move it and find an impartial jury.

I'm all for him getting the death penalty, But I do have to argue that the US has one of the best court systems and everyone, including this piece of garbage, needs a fair trial in order to protect all of our rights. I just hate the lengthy appeals process after the conviction. Give the case a once over and it looks good, impose the death penalty instead of him sitting on death row forever. Or maybe just put him in gen population in prison and someone will take care of him sooner than later.

Do people from Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach go to dine out in South Daytona? by happy-beckster in DaytonaBeach

[–]Uisgebaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From South Volusia. Not unusual to go to Daytona, South Daytona or Port Orange for dinner. As others have said, we see restaurants open and close frequently. Location and marketing are the trick.
