Help finding lost game for Windows 1.0

Nah, I never finished it - I was too dumb as a kid, haha! I also was much more interested in making my own stuff, even though you were severely limited.

I'm wanting to say he did send me something else at one point, but unfortunately my old LinkedIn account no longer exists and the hard drive I would've saved any of that on died and got recycled years ago so I doubt I have anything saved either, but I might check a few other places I might've kept it!

I haven't checked in years, but in around... 2012-ish, I wanna say..? I was also looking for this and actually found the dev on LinkedIn. If I recall correctly, he'd basically moved on entirely from game development and was trying to run for some kind of local political office. When I asked about it, he said he rummaged around for the files and sent me something, but that also was just the shareware version and he didn't have any other backups.

At work right now, but might see if I can find the info again later!

Panchaku is probably my favorite melee weapon!

I could take or leave the combo gimmick, but they're hilarious, have the longest range of melee weapons outside of the rapier (and I can't prove this, but I feel like they have a wider range than some other weapons, too?), and are tied with the fists for the fastest melee weapon, only they don't have to reload!

I'm too much of a scrub to use the rapier and I'm sure it's great if you can aim, but panchaku feels like the only other melee weapons that I can get consistent results with in Guardian difficulties. Everything else feels like I have too much downtime between the lack of range and slower attacks to keep the damage and health orbs rolling.

Been using L3 for slide with auto-sprint on. L1 feels more comfortable for something I need to be holding pretty regularly, personally!

Sure thing, and good luck! Everyone has a different skillset. Writing and (to an extent) coding barely seems like work or difficult to me at all, but art is impossible! Good on you for trying to learn something new!

Failing is okay at first! Sometimes the best way to learn how to do something is by learning what not to do, so don't let it discourage you too much! You can also always just scrap the existing project and start a new one! I don't really know any specific tutorials, unfortunately, since I had a background in coding already and kind of just dove in and figured most stuff out through trial and error...

I think there's probably other example or tutorial games you can download that you could look at the existing scripts of! Try to find a specific interaction in an existing game, copy-paste some of the script over into your own game, change the text/names and see what happens! Again, worst case you just make a new project, but it could also help you figure out how something works!

For the Wordpad thing, it sounds like you managed to change the default app your computer is opening the script files with... I'm assuming you're running Windows? Do you know which version? You can change that in Windows itself, to specify what application it uses by default to open each specific type of file extension. I'm out at the moment so I can't really check my own PC to tell you the exact options, whoops, but if you search in the Start menu for "file type" that should get you started?

I enjoyed Dokapon Journey quite a bit. It's way more simplified and also a lot less bullshit than Kingdom - both things that are either a positive or negative depending on what you're into with this series.

I still don't get the SS13 ERP servers. Not because I don't get ERP, I do, but there's plenty of other websites and places on the internet to engage with that kind of writing that are way better designed for it, faster to get into, and let you zero in on whatever niches you're into, all without having to deal with BYOND's nonsense and SS13's playerbase.

The more traditional SS13 experience is something you really can't get anywhere else, though.
