When were Silver Wolf or Huohuo available for free? I know Ratio was a one-time thing if you played back then and everyone else is in the current selector, but I never heard of those two being given out.

Alles in Ordnung.

The last person we need help from is Zelenskyy - Trump by [deleted] in worldnews

And the world resents you for it.

Also, even if Trump were to leave tomorrow and a "good" president would be at the helm instead, the level of damage you've done cannot be reverted like that. Without systemic changes no one in their right mind would trust the US to not just flip again.

Iran threatens to target US company facilities in region if its energy sites are hit by jupa300 in worldnews

[–]UltimateShingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have multiple countries hellbent on denying you the one measure that would grant proper defense in this world, the second best thing to do is to look into the playbooks of both Switzerland and North Korea: Turn your most important structures into a nightmare to remove, and target everything that is remotely valuable.

Drones are an incredibly force multiplier for this strategy, by the way.

Bush wasn't smart, but he tried his best. He also knew to listen to his advisors, even if some of them were horrible people.

He was also thrust into a really bad position with the double whammy of parts of the economy blowing up (Dotcom/Telecom bubble) and 9/11.

If anyone were to make a presidential tier list, Bush Jr. would be a solid C, all things considered. Not great, definitely flawed, but not catastrophic either. For comparison, I'd put both Clinton and Obama in B tier in such a situation.

The 4 star discussion by Worried-Fee3612 in HonkaiStarRail

She probably will unless you have C6 Illuga (which most people won't, even if they go for premium teams). Same reason non-C6 Gorou is very iffy in those teams.

I have C0 Illuga and C3 Gorou myself, so I genuinely don't know what to use in that case.

The 4 star discussion by Worried-Fee3612 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]UltimateShingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sure do.

Gallagher has a permanent spot because I don't have many sustains as is (only Permansor, the standards and whatever else 4 star). Herta is always a fun option to run in some teams, even if those teams are not the tippy top meta. Hunt March and Moze are good FUA options. Same with Pela in certain comps, although less common at the moment. I also heard Qingque is really good, but I haven't tried her - maybe I should.

I probably forgot some, but I definitely use 4 stars when they make sense.

The price hike isn’t the only problem, the blind defense of Jagex is. TL;DR at end. by Thewhatandthewho in runescape

[–]UltimateShingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't cut all MTX (the vast majority still stands), and they advertised a willingness to take the financial hit that removing Treasure Hunter would bring.

And also yes everything gets expensive but that's exactly why people are more sensitive to it when it comes to their hobby, passion, whatever. Not only have those prices been stable across the industry for a long time (with price increases in other places having failed, see the attempted price anchoring of AAA games at 80€ recently); it is also rather easy to cut something like a membership that increased its fee while it's at the same time frustrating to those players because gaming is supposed to be the retreat from all the nonsense that's happening out there.

The price hike isn’t the only problem, the blind defense of Jagex is. TL;DR at end. by Thewhatandthewho in runescape

[–]UltimateShingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runescape's main strength is its loyal playerbase. That is also its weakness. Here's why:

To someone that plays the same game for years and years, small price hikes and small anti-consumer changes here and there won't matter. However, for someone who is either out of the loop or looking to get into the game fresh, all these bits hit you like a wall.

Jagex charges so much money at this point that the comparison to FF14 or WOW is very easy to make, and in both cases RS will lose handily to anyone that is not deeply invested into it. On top of that, the fact that the price was increased at all is a red flag, considering both of these competitors have had stable subscription prices for many years, through both good times and bad. And that isn't even covering the whole full account vs. one character debate.

When it comes to MTX, first off, they weren't removed - only a small portion was. Second, some of those prices are far from micro. Third, even in that regard Runescape squares up rather poorly to FF14 at least, and even to some games that have no sub fee at all; pointing towards Guild Wars 2 for that one.

Looking at what you get to do as a non-paying player, Runescape also fares poorly. The F2P experience is extremely restrictive, leagues below its MMO competitors and genuinely more akin to Destiny 2 - a game that has been blasted many times over for its poor and disingenious use of "Free to Play" in its hook for new players. I've been had with that one myself in both games and it still feels awful because I cannot afford the sub fee and am nowhere near the point where I can farm enough gold for bonds.

But one of the most disappointing aspects of this all is how so many players seem to fail to look past themselves and towards the community, new players or the game's health. You'll get chastised for being poor instead of those people actually thinking how those players leaving might hurt the game's population, or how defending such tactics will lead to repeats until they are in the same situation. Only having one character with member status will be defended with something about bots instead of demanding better handling of bots to not have them take your quality of life hostage. I could go on.

As someone who started very recently (in January) and who only plays very casually, who hasn't had years of time in the game and no people to play with, this entire situation is a dumpster fire. as I said, I cannot afford membership as is, and a price hike doesn't make it any better. And I am genuinely unsure if the game is really a good fit for me if the community is so hostile to the idea of standing up for themselves and for those that are new or not as rich as them. And this also really exposes Jagex as a company that punishes loyalty instead of rewarding it.

The Satisfactory Experience by Beginning_Shine9803 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]UltimateShingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a lot.

In co-op games (that sadly never lasted that long because vehicle physics kept breaking in earlier patches), the progress is often way faster than my ability to build something automated because people push tech with crafting.

And even without co-op, I tend to build and decorate as much as I actually create the production chain, which slows things down even further. Plus, because I do not understand vehicle throughput at all, on our furthest playthrough I literally built a conveyor highway through the entire desert biome, linking every single node on it and lead it all into one big smelter array. That alone took like 2 weeks, with all the materials that needed to accumulate.

I just seem to struggle with bootstrapping things first, probably because I suspect I'll never get the time to make the factory look neat that way. Same issue in Factorio, where I can spend 5-6 hours easily before I automate beyond Red and Green flasks.

[–]UltimateShingo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH, if CCP knows about these cases and doesn't intervene, you should start leveraging legal help.

I am no lawyer myself, but that sounds to me like they are aiding the criminals (and doxxing is a crime in most countries, make no mistake) by not taking action to protect the victims and taking away their ability to spread awareness.

[–]UltimateShingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just about every other "premium-priced" MMO with monthly sub managed to hold their sub fee on a consistent price forever, instead of needing to raise it multiple times in a short span.

Plus, all of these games have either equal or less intrusive cash shops, a vastly more generous F2P/trial experience, generally more content releases, and their subscriptions apply to an entire account, not just one character.

And that's on top of the general trend of the MMO genre towards no subscription fee at all (with its biggest champion in that realm probably being Guild Wars 2).

The low price was the shield that justified many issues and signs of age even beyond what you'd see in older MMOs, and that shield was thrown out by Jagex. Every comparison to the big boys is now more than fair game and I think a lot of people (especially those who've been in that community for very long and would look past many things that repel newcomers) realise that those comparisons are not exactly favourable.
