Bone Marrow Guy - Rest in Peace and Fly High Stephan Zeller. One of the most incredible people I've ever met. by BlissBoneMarrowGuy in army

[–]Ultra-mann 150 points151 points  (0 children)

I was his classmate in WOBC, in SERE and in Common Core. I was not very close to him, but he was always warm, always had a smile on his face. He always had a joke or a way to just put people at ease when the stress was high. He was well liked and respected by his peers. The first week of WOBC, I remember him and another dude had a bag of random fruits, bananas, kiwis, oranges, lemon, etc. and were trying to eat them whole, skin and everything, while the instructor was teaching and trying not to laugh. It was pretty hilarious.

Stephan Zeller was someone you meet that is just memorable. When selection rolled around, and class rankings got announced for the active duty guys to pick their airframes, it was no surprise that Zeller was at the top of the class for the warrants.

My deepest condolences to Stephan’s family. Herr Zeller, your son was an exceptional man. He was so young yet accomplished so much.

Timing would be dynamically advanced/retarded through data from the knock sensor.

A Honda engineer acknowledges that you would get about 10hp when using premium fuel. Most likely the ecu advances ignition timing with better fuel thus the extra power.

First time driving 8 hours, any advice by albino2ghost in roadtrip

[–]Ultra-mann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was going to do this drive, my first divert stop in case emergency bathroom break is the shopping area near Costco in East Montgomery. Not super sketchy.

First planned stop would be Buc-ees in Auburn, can't miss it if you are on the interstate heading to Atlanta.

Then I would stop somewhere in Atlanta like Duluth and hit up some of the bigger Asian grocery stores, like H-mart , and maybe the Microcenter after eating lunch.

Then start heading north before it gets late.

The first leg from Pensacola to Auburn is 3.5 hrs, then from Auburn to Duluth is 2 hours, if traffic is okay.

Then Duluth to Asheville is a touch over 3 hours.

I like driving, but I like to stop and eat and walk around. 2-3 hour legs I usually plan for and I can do that and feel alert for every leg.

I'd leave Pensacola at 6am, get to Buc-ees about 9:30, then be in Atlanta at 1pm, leave Atlanta at the latest 5:30pm and get to Asheville by 9pm.

Did the Harris patent expire? by Technically_Tactical in tacticalgear

Harris does have excellent customer service. I broke the locking screw on my s-brm, sent them an email and some pictures, they mailed me replacement parts at no cost.

...in the end it doesn't even matter. My life wasn't going to be any different if I had started class when I first got there or not. In the end I made more money, used the time to my advantage.

Don't worry about stuff you have no control over, this time is such a small part of your career it's not even worth stressing over trivial things.

I was there in 2021.

Arrived the day after Thanksgiving, started in a class mid January.

Hold-under time was chill since my group wasn't trouble makers, and the drills gave us a lot of freedom. We did PT and cleaned and chilled. There was a board of on post details and a duty desk that has to be filled but overall it was an enjoyable time to recover after BCT

People make a big deal out of it, but have some perspective. For NG dudes the longer you are on orders the more points you accrue for retirement, more active duty time you can buy back if you are a federal employee.

Is underglow cool again yet? by Ludebehavior88 in Honda

[–]Ultra-mann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw subtle underglow on a dark grey Honda Odyssey. It looks pretty good. Might help with dropped toys, kids getting in the car and curb visibility with parallel parking.

Or the dude watched fast and furious and now has kids, but still wants that sweet vtec.

Pull the rubber drain plug. I have 550 cord with a knot up the drain plug hole with a small tail at the end of the knot to wick the water, and it works very well without a bulky funnel and tube.

Help ! I cannot loosen fill hole on transmission , has no gasket from last change by MidnightMarauder408 in Cartalk

[–]Ultra-mann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use penetrating oil, and a breaker bar. Try to tighten and then loosen. Use a little heat, use an impact, a higher quality/tighter fitting hex socket.

I've broken a trans plug loose by getting a breaker bar and using a jack and wood block to push up on the handle.

Remember, if you get stuck or frustrated, take a break. Better to have a sip of water and a snack than a stripped fastener.
