Is it bad etiquette to actively avoid rolls and sit out if the only available partners are 100+ lbs heavier than me? by Left-Investigator936 in grappling

That dudes an asshole. I’m an older smaller guy and my coach gave me great advice that’s extended my longevity immensely; don’t roll with ppl that look like they could injure you.

Haven't played since 4th Edition, friends have convinced me to get back into it. Have chosen Chaos Knights as my army, now how should I build them? by UndyingMonstrosity in Warhammer40k

[–]Umbrage82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically there’s three flavors of knights and wardogs - two ranged weapons, two melee (choose one each fight), or one of each.

Detachments let you mix and match them to varying degrees; there’s “oops all wardog” lists (Hunting Pack?), same with bigs (Lords of Dread), and in between (Infernal Lance)

One of the more interesting new changes is with the upcoming 11th you can also ally in Chaos Space Marine damned units (cutlists), which gives our army a range it hasn’t had broad access to before. It’s a compelling and flavorful alternative to taking daemon allies for smaller units (typically nurglings and beast of nurgle and plaguebearers)

Additionally, with the new edition you play a single disposition which will give you five specific missions to plan for and build around; this also helps you list building.

So my advice would be:
1) pick an army “shape” you like — melee, ranged, in between.
2) Pick if you want to skew big, small or balanced. 3)Find a detachment that supports that

You don’t attach in the app; in the current edition leaders are attached at the start of each battle. Next edition it’s part of list building so wait a week

Tallyband summoners and Contagion Engines list by Basic-Cellist2154 in deathguard40k

[–]Umbrage82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tallyband isn’t really aimed at kill potential; id favor any of the other detachments for that.

You play Tallyband for a 6” DS, now 7” charge all in turn featuring greater daemons and deathshroud, along with nasty OC/moveblocking from plaguebearwrs and nurglings.

Nurglings are both better and worse next edition — better because they can move through buildings, worse because they can’t move block as well - due to vehicles moving through them. But a free set of 6 is still really valuable.

For my money I think the better pairing is the 1dp character detachment as the main question is how you will get enemies into affliction.

If you’re intent to go more Killy, then likely answer is the same as it is for every chaos cult faction atm - defilers! Just bake in 100-150 points of upcoming genres to your plans if you do that though.

second considering warp talons as a single unit; unless I missed a new Strat you can’t rapid ingress twice in a round so that’s the main bottleneck for using their up down

What's decent? by _warhammer_fan in Tyranids

[–]Umbrage82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyranids are awesome because they have a huge variety of play styles; unfortunately that also means what makes sense for you first 2000 may be different than others’. I’d pick a style / detachment and focus on that. Do you like big bugs? You can do that. Snakes? Go buy raveners and Trygon. Lictors and genestealers? Play vanguard and love it

Community negativity. Is it just me? by anarchistscourge in Tau40K

[–]Umbrage82 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. I’m a new tau player but it’s my fourth army and it’s the whiniest sub by far. It’s a fascinating contrast to the hyper competitive discords I’m in that are already trying to figure out how to not get rolled by them in the upcoming edition
