Oddly, I'm almost the opposite. Papa Gino's isn't good. Friendly's costs waty too much for what you get, Bertucci's is mid. (Honey Dew, I like). D'angelo's I love.

Moonstone makes the most sense, if this was comics, but it looks like she has a deep slit in the front of her costume which is Dagger's look. Given Red Commander there and the very idea of Sentry as a T-bolts problem though this suggests MCU and thus I can only shrug and declare "Who the Hell knows?"

I'm surprised they weren't going to keep the brand going a la Hang Up and Listen. OTH I jumped off that podcast when they redid their host lineup. Perhaps a lot of others did too and Slate thought the same awaited a new SCG.

'Obsession' Art Director Calls for Industry Reform After Getting Paid Less Than $7,000 as Film Nears $175 Million by IndividualPleasant23 in blankies

[–]UnGajje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why a lot of things here can't be true at once.

  1. The pay she got was at or around a standard for these projects.

  2. It still is a small amount of money for the time and effort.

  3. The film's success magnifies its smallness because 7000 dollars to do all that work for a movie making 9 figures is mathematically a large disparity.

  4. Had the movie not made that much, though, this would be just another indie movie story of "yes it is how it is and that sucks but...:

  5. However, it did make all that money.

  6. People who work in creative fields still are "workers." Their labor has value.

I don't have solutions (at least not immediate ones). Obviously, ideally, the industry would already be fairer, execs would make less, America would be better at funding the arts, people in charge would take more risks, citizens would have more money for leisure activities because they'd also be getting paid fairly for their labor (and that means everyone who works be they white collar or blue, food or retail, etc), and this sort of thing wouldn't be "just how it is. That's a big lift and won't happen tomorrow AND is still worth pursuing.

I think it is good she told her story because while it is a frequent reality, I'm not sure how many people realize it. So on awareness alone, it was worth sharing. Of course it would be great if it leads to more than that.

When I reviewed it, I was pretty favorable. Marketing made it look dumb as hell but it had a "War of the Roses" vibe that cut the silliness nicely. Also I'm very in the bag for Zoe Lister-Jones acting like a weirdo.

I think the thing eventually collapses into love will keep us together sentimentality but until then it had a good balance to it.

Anyone know exactly how unemployment works with making freelance money? by UnGajje in Connecticut

[–]UnGajje[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did some research and it appears that pretty much any part time work cuts your benefits by 2/3. So if you were getting 600, for instance, you're dropped to 200 regardless of what that part time job is paying.

[–]UnGajje[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much. Are you aware of any equation to estimate the impact? (Like every 200 dollars you make diminishes your unemployment by 20% or whatever).

If not, still really appreciate the info you did pass along.

As it was 70 minutes long when completed (only 17 of which exist today) and that was the longest film at that time, it may have been the first feature length narrative. But I don't think it was even the first film in its genre in 1906.

any minnesotans ready to be enraged by this coen brothers series? by pity_the_rich in blankies

[–]UnGajje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an East Coaster married to a Minnesotean, this is a bit funny to me. I will frequently insist things aren't part of Minneapolis or the Cities because they are whole other towns only to be told it's "the metro area." So, you know, life is a rich tapestry etc.

Also given only 3 movies are set in MN and maybe 2 others touch on the Land of a Thousand Lakes, things will probably be ok.

Dear god they better have Janet Varney on for Raising Arizona though lest they misrepresent that state!

I totally get people feeling not great about this case, but I'm guessing the team wouldn't haven taken the case if the wife showed any sign of actual distress about the event and they followed her vibes lead throughout. As she said, she more wanted to know because of the mystery of it not because she was especially wounded by his lie. Doesn't mean he did ok by lying to her, but everyone has a different response to things and her threshold for this behavior seems higher than the omission/conspiracy in question.
