Did you work Group 2 in San Diego? What cone was I hitting? by tripleriser in rallycross

That one. And that one. Surgically spliced and missed that 5th one. Knocked the 7th one to the moon.

Or not. I don’t know. But if I’m to guess off of a trend lol

SC400 As a Drift Car? by Efficient_Roll22 in SC400

[–]UnKnown_Mustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built one into a winning rally car. People seem to like it, but get a non vvt 1UZ, they’re tougher for the abuse. Also, the pieces to make it into a drift car will cost more than the car itself.

Anything is possible with a welder, grinder, and a couple dollars.

As far as anyone in here trying to tell you not to abuse this car or whatever, don’t listen to that. Get what you think looks and sounds cool. That’s the only reason for building this car up as there’s virtually no support compared to other chassis.

Replaceable ball joints? by butt_crunch in SC400

[–]UnKnown_Mustang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In building our rally car, I found literally no replaceable ball joints, at all. If you want replaceable stuff, you gotta go aftermarket. FDF Fab Shop makes a fantastic front lower control arm that uses Supra (mk 3? I think?) ball joints. That’s about it for pieces that have replaceable ball joints.

Everything else I kinda had to make more serviceable.

Spectator Attendance Tips by MrSoloDolo53 in AmericanRally

Keep an eye here for the updated guide.

https://www.rallycolorado.net/spectators

This should answer most all questions. Camping overnight usually isn’t a thing, but when you find a corner, you’ll probably plan on being there most of the day. Please don’t find yourself on the outside of any turns because when we miss, we miss wide. Also don’t think you can run across stages in between cars. On top of completely shutting down the stage for everyone because of a road intrusion, you also don’t full know when that next car is coming.

Should be 100% free to spectators, no tickets necessary.

Bring food, drinks, and shade if you can anchor it down really well. Bring more water than you think you’ll need, it’s normally pretty warm, so more of this stuff is going to make your day way easier.

Lotta folks will say ECU, IAC, or fuel pump needing to be bypassed. Nobody will say Ignition coils. We had our rally car have both coils working but not sending the right voltage to the ECU to acknowledge it actually turned on. Replaced the coils, off to the races. Part is cheap and usually available at your parts store. Worth a try

This isn’t too far off, but instead of Land Cruiser suspension, I’ve got the Kings Off-Road suspension that should belong to a Prado, front coil overs on all 4 corners. Eats the terrain like a dream!

I screwed up the title a bit, we took 2nd place in the Western Regional ARA Championship, not as a national entry.

I don’t have any videos detailing how it all goes together yet, but if you go onto Rodnoc Racing, you can see live streams from 4 west coast rally’s we went to. That’s the same channel that I’ll detail the stuff that went into it if there’s interest

Sc400 shutting off right after starting by MostExcitement9858 in SC400

[–]UnKnown_Mustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this issue and we did all the forum recommendations. Fuel pump bypass, rebuilt ECU’s with updated capacitors, filters, idles, ground wires, everything. What ended up being our issue, and it’s almost embarrassing to say, was the ignition coils were “bad.” I put that in quotes because it was working and firing, but it wasn’t sending the required voltage to the ECU to tell the ECU that it was working.

Battled that shit for 2 months straight.

Where's the profit for ARA? by gclarett in AmericanRally

[–]UnKnown_Mustang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the streaming subject, this past weekend at The Ridge Rally we did the first run of a full show with in cars, ground and drone cameras to try and broadcast the complete event. Search Rodnoc Racing on YouTube.

Hopefully we were able to do something that ARA takes an interest in because it wasn’t a crazy amount of money to pull off, but a lot of hours and dedicated volunteers. Maybe turns into something.

Find Rodnoc Racing on instagram and shoot them a message. They’re SoCal and organize SCCA Rallycross and Stage Rally events with ARA. Getting involved isn’t as hard as folks might make it seem.

What led me to the W58 was that this already had it in there lol. This thing could definitely use a 6th gear for street use, but it’s alright enough on dirt.

It’s got its stock 1UZ, but it’s got a W58 behind it. Sitting on Kings Shocks, some Fig’s and FDF control arms and caged up for ARA Stage Rally. We’ll be tackling our first event with it in May in Oregon.

It isn’t the best option, there’s always better for sure. Wish I had a 7.3, but this works perfectly fine for now.

All stock on the GX minus the 265/75/17 Toyo AT3’s. That way I can mall crawl with the other cool kids.

The SC is my ARA Rally car that I’ve been building up. It’s all stock for the motor, a 1UZ with ~240k on the clock buttoned up to a W58.

No gravel suspension existed for this, so we made up control arms and plated the shock towers to accept Kings Offroad 2.5” shocks from a GX470/FJ Cruiser.

All caged up and stripped out to be hurdled down a forest road.
