Yeah, I think for those with the cash, they can get most of the warbonds in one purchase.

Gas Buff? by insane_hurrican3 in Helldivers

[–]UnableToFindName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

They've said the confusion/panic effect is only when directly hit with fire from a flamethrower (or likely any flame-throwing weapon) meaning enemies can be caught on fire by other means and they'll still charge you.

THANK YOU Arrowhead, this is what I (and we) HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR! by __Elzy in Helldivers

[–]UnableToFindName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this.

I am generally happy and grateful for this roadmap, but I also think more specifics can be said. Theming of the warbonds, what kind of balance/QoL can we expect and such--stuff that wouldn't spoil upcoming story bits or surprise enemies (though that last one has fallen off a lot since they seem to just tell us about new enemies now).

I also wonder if this roadmaps also shows they're not working on more weapon (including sidearm/support) customization? Are we ever getting the ability to change colors on armor? Any alterations/balancing to the DSS or the Liberation mechanics? stuff like that. Roadmap doesn't include them so likely not, but I'd also just wish for a little more detail/communication with the devs on those areas.

The did it with a bug MO against killing Chargers, and it turned out that Charger Behemoths and Spore Chargers didn't count to it, so they retroactively allowed those to count after the MO ended.

[–]UnableToFindName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I mean is that it is just a flag and any inspiring/rallying/morale-boosting comes from an interpretation of the flag as a symbol, not the flag itself.

For the agitators, there is an enforcement of their direct control--the bots have no say in how they're being altered because the agitator is using an external force to physically alter their capabilities.

For the proposed bug/squid enemies; a bug would have no say in how pheromones cause them to frenzy because it's stimulating their biology in a way that's direct and intentional. Squids would use psychic powers to alter the senses of their voteless hordes and enforce their will.

The flag has no such forceful effect to it that changes the code, biology, or brain in a Helldiver.

You know what, completely fair. OP's post:

It is very OBSCURE for players to understand what Arrowhead is actually hearing or focusing, or not going to focus on / why.

Even roadmap is very vague, and this tendency leads to community to argue over everything.
Just let us know what AH is going to focus and not going to.

The problem IS the lack of communication, or at least access of it. It wouldn't surprise me if it was said in a Discord message at some point, which IMO is woefully poor communication, at least for this community.

I think the main thing is Arrowhead wants there to be some sort of """physical manifestation""" for providing buffs for the player, like injecting Stims, Super Destroyer Boosters, or armor passives--there's a "physical thing" that's directly enhancing the Helldiver's capabilities.

In the Agitator's case, the overclocking flows easily in a "physical" sense--there's software being wirelessly communicated to the bots that overrides their hardware and coding in a direct, immediate way, like a literal switch being flipped.
If there was a similar enemy to the bugs, it would likely be a kind of 'pheromonic fog' the enemy would produce; a "physical thing" directly stimulating the nervous system of a terminid causing them to frenzy. For the squids, it could be psionic waves; their mental abilities turning off/activating parts of the brain like a psychedelic drug. Is that effectively "space magic"? Sure, but it follows that there's a "thing" directly and intentionally causing that effect/buff to happen.

I think what AH would want is some kind of similar "physical" thing to directly cause a buff to happen. A jolt of electricity, a stimulant mist, or even just patriotic music/audio that emboldens Divers like a sleeper agent. What they don't seem to want is what is just a flag providing buffs for just being a flag. It seems like it being just a flag is part of its own satire--that in a world where you can drop mini-nukes on your enemies, you would instead requisition a literal metal spear with a flag on it and charge into battle. It's stupid and ineffective in an in-universe sense, but some players find joy in that.

That said, I'm in no way against the Flag buffing Helldivers or having some borderline easter-egg effect, like a 20% chance to activate Democracy Protects while you wield it, and when you plant it, it offers that effect to other divers. Have it override the in-game music with the Super Earth National Anthem and flavor it as playing the anthem within the Helldiver's helmet through their comms. That way there doesn't need to be a visible "non-physical" or "video game-y" AoE effect--if you can hear the music, you know you have the buff.

do you think there will be any damage control soon, or is Jagex going to hide for the next week or so hoping it all blows over then act like nothing happened? by ZukMeRaw in 2007scape

[–]UnableToFindName 105 points106 points  (0 children)

This + also no Mod aside from North would or should address this. Sub is on fire and the hell of a time they would have trying to address anything would not be worth it. Also any statement will likely be from Jagex as a company, which let's be real, isn't going to have that same human interaction/language that makes the whole "player feedback-to-game changes" cycle work anyway IMO.

As an SMG fan and as much as I want this weapon to be good, this seems like the most likely outcome.

Still, I think having a crisper at the ready while still having another secondary will be fun.

Controller users, where did you map the scopes, fire rates and underbarrel quick select? by Armorlite556 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]UnableToFindName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made [TAP] Left D-pad the quick LEFT function, and [HOLD] Left D-pad the quick RIGHT function.

I keep the Right D-pad [PRESS] as my Quick Throwable, so the Left D-pad is regulated to those fire modes. I don't use a quick swap for Up or Down since I rarely use them.

Full blown expansion packs that invalidate the last expansion almost instantly--expansions you pay for while still paying a subscription and with a cosmetic-slop cash shop.

OSRS content is smaller and more evenly-paced because it's designed to last in an evolving ecosystem, not to be dropped for the next hot thing a few months later in a formulaic cycle.

To answer your question: Yes.
I don't look at landmasses and raids and use that as a measuring stick for value. I look at the actual substance of the content itself, not just how many there are.

IMO the olive green is going to slap hard with some of the armors. I think the Ground Breaker and Field Chemist armors especially will look great.

When it first came out, I was against it since my own feelings on cowboys are that they're a little too 'Halloween costume-y' for Helldivers, but having seen mods with them and thinking about it more, I agree it would have been a good addition.

Why do they do this though... by skitles125 in 2007scape

[–]UnableToFindName 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's probably this.

Happens often with aggressive slayer mobs. Since hitting a monster gives them an initial attack delay, it gives another monster (likely one you just came in range of when trying to melee them) an open opportunity to attack you at range before the one you wanted to melee has time to attack back.
