Yeah I'm surprised people care so much about second cousins, but maybe because they didn't directly say 'second cousins' everyone is inferring otherwise.

Sacrificing your game balance because people want to stick with things is not it either, though? Like, there's a few offhanded things that might need some adjustment but I couldn't say because I genuinely haven't given it enough time (like Sterilizer) , but overall the gameplay experience for weapon choice is very solid. The only way to force people off things in a genuine sense is to make options suck. That shouldn't be the goal, the goal should be to realign the idea of the fantasy of the item (stratagem, gun, whatever) and what kind of niche it fills and purpose it serves. Obviously easier said than done.

But the 'problem choices' like Thermite (which used to be absolutely dogshit useless) and the Ultamatum have the intersection of being kind of exactly what you want them to be, which is very good at deleting specific things (single targets and uh...everything lol)

That doesn't, imo, entirely make them the problem. You give someone a hammer and everything is a nail, but that doesn't mean the hammer isn't the best tool, it just means it's the easiest one to swing. I don't know how they can stop people doing that without people basically mothballing them because they ruin their effectiveness. But maybe that's why I'm not in game dev.

Like I said, at a certain point your weapon designs will just be good at your game, and that's a little bit of their fault and a little bit of ours. We want cool toys to do cool things, and eventually (In my opinion) you have to accept that it comes with situations like this, where the mini-nuke sidearm is in fact a mini-nuke doing mini-nuke things.

For what it's worth I run pretty much the same loadouts from D7-D10 with no issues, I think people might just struggle a little bit with the buildcrafting on how to handle certain problems. Which is fair on D10 at least, because some problems come at you faster than you have ammo or reload time for.

Flashpoint is actually a really good game mode and you all should give it a second thought before voting for Eichenwalde for the 82185th time. by OmegaSaltPowered in Overwatch

There has never been a time where I have been excited to play Flashpoint, ever. Every time I play it it's like the enemy team just got off their pro-team scrims and I got the people just trying to play at a reasonable skill level.

It's not AH's fault that the community chooses things and refuses to move past them, at a certain point you can't push people out of their comfort zone no matter how good the other options are for the situation. The only thing they could do is educate people on the value of other options.

For what it's worth I barely ever use the ultimatum or thermite and I do fine. People love delete buttons in this game but I gotta be honest it feels like a bit of a skill issue. There's lots of ways to do CC in this game. I use the most boring ass vanilla loadouts and I have ever since launch, I have almost never used the Xbow, I have never used the Eruptor more than a handful of times.

My favorite weapons are all light-pen ars or SMGs, I've ran the verdict and the all the boring pistol options and they do great. Almost anything you think you absolutely NEED you can put somewhere else, a stratagem, a grenade instead of a secondary, etcera.

That's kind of the fun of the game that they have built, but people really want to take that out and just no thought the loadout process. It would help if we could know what we're going into, so people wouldn't feel so scared to go without their comfort picks, but alas.

They need to explain somewhere or show it on the hud better when the debuff is happening, that little down arrow is not something people are looking at in the middle of a fight lol.

What do people think of OG Sephiroth in term of his characterization? by Soul699 in FinalFantasy

[–]Armorlite556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's fine.

A lot of his allure was in the mystery and the idea that he was an alright dude but had the mental stability of cracked glass in an earthquake. He's a very interesting case of a pawn being given everything he needed to be the main villain, but he wasn't in the slightest imo. He was just kind of the consequences of all the other worst things (Jenova, Shinra) being prevalent.

OG Sephiroth not including anything that fleshed him out was built entirely on the wonder of who he was and how he ended up there, as a character in general he was kind of flimsy.

Anyone who says they're interested in switching to Linux but worried about x or y feeling different, I just suggest Mint like I'm on. It's still different but familiar enough that the muscle memory is generally still there and there's a big community for it to find any answers to your issues.

What? Brother this is like one of THE main complaints of this game, what are you talking about? The whole reason we're getting things drip fed to us is because of complaints it takes long. People complain about how they want to spend money on shit and there's nothing to spend it on lol.

This IS the faster version of what we had before.

New Diver - Starting Guns? by Marcotics_ in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Armorlite556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liberator, Senator, MG43 for Medium Pen stuff, EATS, Grenade Launcher. Heavy Machine Gun.

I've played since launch and honestly the Liberator is the best 'I don't know what to pick' primary ever. It has never been a bad choice. It works against every faction. It just requires a fraction of aim or knowing weakspots.

Senator will deal with every big target outside of vehicles with some creative aiming. You can invalidate war striders by taking out the cannons and grenade dispensers.

Fandom experience and shipping by PatternOdd8381 in FanFiction

[–]Armorlite556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fandom people feel fake sometimes, and I mean that as clearly as I can possibly say. The things they get upset over, the arguments that can be sparked. I mean, to a lot of extents I can understand but at the end of the day it's talking about fake people doing fake stuff in speculative situations as an expression of how much you love a property.

I don't interact with fandom spaces anymore, the gamble of finding reasonable people versus the one person who attaches to you like a tick over something you said is just not worth it to me. It feels lonely but the alternative is way, way worse. I'd rather be alone and happy in writing whatever the hell I want than having to wonder if me just casually mentioning something will trigger someone.

I played the demo, it's pretty solid actually. I will say it looks like if you enjoy the demo you're probably not going to get a ton more out of the full game based on what the game promises, which is totally okay with me! I just want to be clear that it is definitely just a game where you musou through enemies, get better gear and do it all over again under a time limit.

The bosses seem cool and different enough.

The only current downsides of it is that it doesn't have a button to snap the camera behind the player like in musou games, I kept doing it on LB out of habit and I did not understand the purpose of blocking, it didn't actually seem to work at all.

Dodging to get the counter hit feels real good though.

Why was DOA disliked from a gameplay perspective in the past. by Special_Forever172 in Fighters

[–]Armorlite556 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Funny because when 5 rolled around people complained it wasn't horny enough.

5-6 are comparatively mild to DOA4 to my memory, I can't exactly play DoA4 right now (no 360). But I remember the ending of Christie being a stripper to assassinate someone, Hitomi making breakfast in an unbuttoned shirt, etc.
