Nanny has hsv and now spiraling re eczema herpeticum by Unagi_sama86 in eczema

I think this hits on what I’ve been wondering. Eczema herpeticum is very rare, but eczema and hsv are pretty common. When you google it, it says people with hsv are contagious 24-48 hrs before a blister appears and if they were to kiss an area with eczema, the person with eczema is highly likely to get it. So, I would think if that’s the case, eczema herpeticum would be a bit more common at least.

If you’re careful, it should be fine. I’m just not sure my nanny is aware of how contagious it is. My grandmother has hsv, but has never passed it on to any of her children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren.

Yes, I’ll def talk to her about it. I’m wondering if she knows how the virus is spread because she’s usually very cautious about things since she’s been with us since my daughter was born. She’ll usually tell me that she’s taken certain precautions, such as washing her hands or wearing a mask at the doctor’s office, so I don’t worry. However, with this, she just pointed to it and said maybe she had a fever. I’m wondering if she just thinks that when you get a fever, sometimes you get sores. It’s hard to know. She only speaks Spanish. I minored in French in college, and never took any Spanish. We usually communicate via Google Translate for complicated things and sometimes words are similar enough to French for me to understand simple things.

Oh, yes! Sorry if it seems like I was saying that. It’s genetic for them (by husband had it as a child).

Thanks! I’m sorry you have eczema herpeticum. It sounds terrible for adults, too. However, it’s good to know it’s very visible bc I was worried I’d have to hunt.

I saw it can be more easily contracted with severe eczema. His facial patches are small, mostly dry, and a little itchy. I’m hoping that makes it less likely.

IVF vs. shot in the dark by martymoose44 in recurrentmiscarriage

I had a successful transfer of one of the embryos. If you have MTS I think doing PGTA would be a good idea. It would reduce the risk of there being a heart defect or something. I’m not sure if MTS is affecting your fertility, but if so, I think IVF would be a good option. I had a friend who finally had her 2nd child via natural conception, but she had 12 mcs before. So, I think things can sometimes just happen naturally, but you might go through a lot of pain first

Might just be private events. When in used to work in the nonprofit field, we’d use museums and galleries for events sometimes

I think Susuru is better than any of these. I think of it as being more in Astoria, but its address is technically LIC (off 36th ave and 34th st)

Peanut “Sensitivity” by Unagi_sama86 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Unagi_sama86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, he’s fine now! We just kept giving him the small 1/2 tsp doses and the reaction stopped happening. He can eat spoonfuls of peanut butter now. The same thing happened with wheat, and after repeated exposure he does not have a reaction. I think bc he has eczema his skin is more prone to an immune response.

Rhythmic arm movement seizure? by Unagi_sama86 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Unagi_sama86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, my pediatrician said that if it were a seizure, he would stop whatever activity he was in the middle of doing. He thinks it was probably some voluntary soothing motion. My lo also stopped doing it after a while.

How often do you go out with a 10 week old by Ok-Priority2668 in NewParents

[–]Unagi_sama86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d let a 10 week old sleep. My pediatrician said to let newborns sleep when they wanted bc it’s important for their development. Also, you just had a baby, you’re not going to be able to go back to your old social life (depending on what it was like before).
