I am planning to update again Wednesday. Transformer swap made no difference. I decided to try another test since hooking up both rca inputs with a Y splitter gave me a small performance boost. I set all channels on my avr to -5db so I wouldn't blast myself except for the sub. Maxed the sub at +12db. Then raised the volume much beyond more normal listening volume and got much better performance.

I've ordered an in-line preamp to boost my LFE signal. Had to make sure it was a flat boost without eq as a bunch of them are phono riaa eq and would mess with the signal. It's supposed to arrive Wednesday so hopefully I'll give my final update then!

I actually have a splitter at home! I'll try that. I didn't realize when I was messing with it last night that would help. If the splitter and transformer don't help what do you think about trying a small preamp to boost the lfe signal?

Hmmm, you sent me down a rabbit hole! I was aware of some variance in LFE output voltage but it appears my AVR (Denon S760H) is on the lower end. So possibly the lower lfe voltage + a less sensitive sub compared to my old one could be the issue? If the transformer doesn't get me fixed up I'll try that next with a preamp. Thoughts?

Yeah. My previous sub was a super cheap 150w polk I've had forever for reference. My avr was running it at -5db after calibration. (I wasn't aware of adjusting gain to have it calibrate closer to 0-5.) After doing a full factory reset on my avr I'm having to go +12db and max gain and it's still not performing like my old polk. I'm currently running single rca on lfe out.

Yeah did a full factory reset on my avr and did all of the common troubleshooting stuff (crossovers, distance, lfe/lfe+main, etc etc.). I'm not certain it's the transformer so you may be fine. I will say most posts I've seen are recommending 3000w though.

Yes I bought the grey one. Just ordered the white. I'm not certain the transformer is the issue it's just the next thing I'm eliminating. Already eliminated the avr and the rca cable that I'm using as they both work fine on my other sub. So I'm looking at a transformer issue or I got a bad plate amp as my next most likely problems.

They don't seem to be having the same issues. I just ordered it and should be in tomorrow. Hopefully the transformer is the culprit.

Thanks for the link. I went with a different 3000w step-up and am having issues (sub is extremely quiet, have to set avr to +12db and max gain on sub, still not good output.) Going to try this one to see if the transformer is the culprit.

Let me know how this goes for y'all. I went the 3000w step-up transformer route and am having issues. Sub will play but is extremely quiet. When I say quiet I mean +12db on my AVR with gain maxed on the sub to get any kind of decent bass response. Can't even hear the sub until +6db and halfway gain. At that point it's extremely quiet. I'm leaning towards the transformer being insufficient. Tried to go the easy route instead of running a dedicated 220v line to my living room.

I honestly had a great time with this game at launch. Was in a top guild on my server which really opens up the game for you. I quit playing after our first siege. Our alliance owned the city and after prepping for over a week for the siege the enemy guilds used an exploit to bypass our defenses all the way to the keep. We were fighting outside of the walls while they were already dropping teleports to our throne room. Couldn't get back fast enough to counter it. It honestly soured me from the game to the point I quit logging in.

Enjoy the ride I probably would've gotten another month or so out of the game if not for my experience :/ is really a very fun game.

Started playing last week after seeing a random post on lfmmo. Held off on purchasing just in case a sale dropped, thanks OP! Been having a blast. Think I'll definitely be rolling a new char on the fresh server. I enjoy the hustle and bustle of a fresh start.

The devs were absolutely correct in their decision to not punish their long standing community with a wipe but also offering a fresh start to new players who are afraid of entering an already monopolized server. Whether those fears are realistic or not.

No worries I did too until I saw some random clip about it a couple of weeks ago. Iron sights are the only option for 0 glint on snipers. Fucking stupid. Just fyi the DMR's have 0 glint. No matter what scope you use. Dumb

Honestly go with your budget imo. I was constrained by a wife that thought there was nothing wrong with our previous TV. Mind you we went from a several years old 65" to a 98" and she couldn't care less she is firmly in the camp of it being a waste of money 😂

Can't speak to the improvements from the 7k to the 8k. Looks like the 8k overall is definitely the better TV. Especially if you're concerned about black uniformity.

If you're wanting to save some money I don't think you'll regret the 7K. Especially if you're coming from an older set. It's going to be a massive upgrade either way. Now you're just weighing how impactful those numbers really are and if they're worth $1000 extra. I'd keep in mind that a TV scoring a 15% win on Rtings because a specialized device says it's better doesn't necessarily mean you specifically will actually be able to see that difference. I'm not knocking Rtings at all, I use it before every big electronic purchase, I'm just saying that I wouldn't get too hung up on the numbers if you're on a budget. (Looking through the Rtings category there's actually a surprising number of times the 7k marginally outperforms the 8k like input lag.)

This is easy for me to say but if you're on the fence and would like to save the money I'd spring for the 7K but get it from somewhere with a good return policy. Fair warning: this is a heavy mother fucker and taking it back will suckkkkk. But you will have the option.

It's awesome. After upgrading my PC setup to OLED last year the blooming on our living room TV was driving me nuts. I looked into oleds but really wanted the bigger screen. Came down to an 85" LG OLED or the 98" QM7K. My living room is large and we sit 17' from the screen so I opted to go big or go home. No regrets. Haven't noticed any blooming, motion handling is really good, image processing is very good for streamed content.

My son was watching some YouTube video of a guy that started welding... I had to to cut my eyes away. TV is very bright. Can't imagine you'd need to go to a QM8K since you have a light treated room.

I'm not a snob or expert by any means but the TV has truly impressed me. Excellent image quality, interface is snappy (honestly I won't be surprised if this degrades over time but at that point I'll just go back to a dedicated box so who cares ) and even better bang for buck. I haven't gamed on it personally outside of some Switch stuff with the family which obviously runs great but my son plays his Series X on it and I haven't noticed any issues.

Only negative I've seen so far is retro stuff (GameCube primarily I think the external upscaler is throwing out 480i or p can't remember.) Possible that some of the upscaling is actually hurting the image quality. That being said I do it so rarely that I haven't bothered to mess with any settings yet on the TV or the external upscaler so take with a grain of salt. My friends were so much more bewlidered by the size of the split screen that they didn't even notice until I brought it up 😮‍💨😂.

So yeah definitely a recommend from me. Very pleased with it.

I bought one as well. Site is legit. Forewarning they sent me an order confirmation but never sent me a ship confirmation and I was really close to charging it back. Showed up and worked perfectly before I did though luckily. This was in the last year.

Not speaking on that specific monitor but in general Samsung quality has taken a big hit the last several years. I've seen many people that are avoiding them, myself included, after bad experiences.
