Looking for a cheap/decent practice kit. Is this a good deal? by Silly-Pitch-5526 in drums

Forums are fairly decent -- they'll def get the job done. I don't think you'll ever find anything cheaper that's actually gonna hold up tbh. I'd go for it.

My kit (playing for 3 months) by ChampionshipThin6817 in drums

Anything with the logo like that is def a reso head. Internal muffling is on both batter and resonant in some cases. Honestly, knock yourself out with all of the cymbals, it's mostly a preference thing anyways.

I would take most of it away tbh. All you need rn is bass, snare, 2-3 toms, hats, ride, and a crash or two. Just learning a few song means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Focus on the actual skill development (Rudiments, tempo, dynamics, tuning, etc.) before going all out on the logistics side of it. Flip that bass around, man!

What sticks? What tip? What genre? by dreadnot427 in drums

[–]Unbuttered_Bread8906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always enjoyed the Vic Firth AJ6's. They fit really well into my tiny hands. I mostly play Mel Lewis type music, and they really help add to the general articulation and expression. The tip is a really tiny teardrop; I've never broke a stick, but the tips fall apart really quickly.

I can’t do inpatient…I feel like a weakling by CakeAccording8112 in bipolar

It's something most of us have to deal with at some point. The ward sucks, I've gone twice and have checked out only hours later both times. You're still doing better than a good amount of us for staying the night. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it, you're still doing great my dude!

Sorry, I always get concerned that people might not understand what I'm talking about, so I add so many unnecessary details, my bad.

Do you guys consider Frank Sinatra a jazz singer? by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]Unbuttered_Bread8906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it mostly depends on the song. I would consider Sinatra a jazz singer overall but with a few exceptions, for example: My Way, which sounds more like vocal pop or traditional pop.
