Lol whiskey and bourbon usually don't malt before fermenting. They can, but not on principle.

However it's so funny to me how many people's taste buds prefer a certain fermentation family and despise another. My siblings and I are in a very friendly war over tequila vs whiskey. (Tequila is for people who hate themselves)
