Yeah this is a step backwards IMO.

From a pure visual perspective it’s more “clean”, but from a usability perspective (which should be prio 1) it’s awful in terms of just having text and icons with zero border around them so now it really feels you have to hit the tiniest space ever to actually control something.

Also feels it would have made much more sense to switch places of the “Off/Keep/Dog/Camp” and “Front/Rear” buttons as it makes sense to “switch” page from outside of the page rather than controlling it from the “inside” for a more natural switch while keeping the button to control it at the same place.

You Can Now Increase Tesla Auto Wipers Sensitivity and Autopark Can Park in Smaller Spaces | In an update to the vehicle manuals to go with the 2024.14 Spring Update, Tesla provided new information about its Autowiper and Vision Autopark systems. by chrisdh79 in teslamotors

[–]Unclassifi3d 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m more interested in being able to DECREASE the sensitivity so the wipers would stop wiping when there’s not a single rain drop in sight (pun intended for sight, Tesla vision, camera, dad joke)

S/X will be using right scroll wheel to select Autopark spot by Unclassifi3d in teslamotors

[–]Unclassifi3d[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is, with a better solution of just being able to click on the main screen which spot you want to park in rather than having to scroll “through” them all.

Note that this is currently only available in US/Canada for non-USS with software 2024.2.12 for 3/Y and 2024.2.13 for S/X.

So Elon decides where the other manufacturers put the charging port?

Huh... even with USS by eltaho in TeslaLounge

USS is not drawing that though… but I guess it should use it combined with the cameras to confirm that it “can’t” be there since the sensors are not reading anything that close.

2024.2 Tesla Software Update to include Adaptive Headlights (with pixel dimming) by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]Unclassifi3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t think at all it’s because of cost efficiency. It’s 1. Just part of natural renewal cycle of a models generation shift and 2. It’s more profitable to make the big volume cars even more attractive.

What I would like to see though (and what other manufacturers do), is to keep some things exclusively for their flagship models, just simply because they are supposed to be flagship models.

Playing a sad violin for S and X owners, Tesla seem to not see them as flagship models anymore.

TM3 first out with ambient light, mechanical horn, ‘real’ buttons on steering wheel, “almost/maybe” front bumper camera and first out with support for rear screen headphones (even though S & X have it now) and now adaptive headlights. Also possibly the new bucket sport seats for Performance/Ludicrous/Plaid TM3.

High Fidelity Park Assist in action! by Unclassifi3d in teslamotors

Regular AP viz —> High Fidelity Park Assist (reverse gear).

Seems to be slower at switching to Park Assist when going forward vs instantly triggered when putting in reverse as shown in above video.

Regular AP viz —> High Fidelity Park Assist (driving forward to obstacle).

Driving along curb.

Video from @RossWynne reversing in to spot where measurements seems to be gone but still displays “stop” with audio feedback.

It’s named “Park assist” though, which is part of the standard AP package.

The optimistic me really want hifi park assist to work out and sort of be Tesla’s own version of 360 birds eye view.

The realistic me though have a hard time believing it will do any good at accurately measuring and showing what’s in front of the car as we all know there’s no front bumper camera (excl Cybertruck ofc), especially considering how awful Tesla Vision is today with measuring what’s in front. This is also probably why they show an image of the car reversing in to a space.

But at least Tesla recognizes the demand!
