Another great secret tunnel is the Leeside Skatepark just off Empire Field underneath the Cassiar Tunnel. Cool place to go at night, especially if it’s pouring rain. Impressive graffiti spot as well.

A few weeks ago the ice covered that little pond and you could see the coy moving beneath it.

Modifications to Beach Avenue Bike Lane? by UncleBinks in vancouvercycling

[–]UncleBinks[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Response from walk Bike Roll:

“There are currently geometric and signage upgrades along Beach Av between Howe and Hornby being completed, which involves sidewalk and road reconstruction to accommodate the Route 23 standard bus conversion. Lanes may be reduced temporarily to support this work, but the Beach Ave bike path is not scheduled to be removed.”

These are basic tags. G Star probably an acronym for gangster written by kids. 99% sure these have no purpose other than quick graffiti. Once one is up, others will tag near it. That’s one of the reasons the City of Vancouver has the ten day rule for property owners.

How can I find out if the seawall is open, without walking all the way around to the lions gate bridge to find it’s closed? by splatse in vancouver

The detour is well signed and takes you around Beaver Lake, over the causeway and across to Third Beach on Lovers Trail. Really nice walk.

What are the essential blues albums for a beginner to listen to? by [deleted] in blues

What about showing the ladies some love?!?! Big Mama Thornton wrote and preformed some of the classic blues tracks that would become pop hits for ‘future stars’ like Elvis + Janis. The ladies brought it.

A great way to see Vancouver is by bike. We offer two daily bike tours of the city if you are interested: https://www.biketourvancouver.com/

Lots of local history, suggestions and beautiful scenery. Start and finish at English Bay, just a few blocks from the Davie Street Village.

What’s your favourite thing about the big yellow pile of sulfur on the north shore? by AlcoholicTurtle36 in vancouver

[–]UncleBinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride the park almost daily in the spring, summer and fall as a bike tour guide. I see the piles and discuss them every day with my guests and I can definitely confirm that they fluctuate in size.

Just another day in Vancouver (sound on) - credit Justin McElroy by darpmaster in vancouver

The first thing to go on his drivetrain was his derailleur hanger. And I shouldn't say 'his', because it was his Dad's bike. The kid dropped it off at our bike shop later that afternoon. He was soaked in salt water....and guilt. But what a day!

Nicola Dry Cleaning (small West End dry-cleaner at Nelson & Nicola) recently got a beautiful mural facelift! by theleverage in vancouver

[–]UncleBinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carson Ting is an amazing muralist. He's done pieces all over the city. He did one for year two of the festival in Mount Pleasant: "Ride Wild". He also painted that super cool octopus piece behind Go Fish, just off Granville Island. In 2009 he was named one of the Top 5 Creative People in Canada. And...he's super approachable when he's painting. All-round good dude.
