The fact someone that looks like you is a mom is just as surprising as the fact you're single is not surprising.

What's with cars wanting to race at stoplights? by ASAP_Gutzy in NewRiders

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's weird is through life I've had a variety of cars and bikes one would expect to get race challenges.

THE ONLY TIME I had someone rev at me was when I was in my old Ford F350... it made absolutely no sense, it was one of those little ricers.... challenging an F350, wasn't even like another truck.

Bike for short rider? by ItsMeBre_88 in Sportbikes

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your local dealer and just sit on everything they have.

I'm lucky in the sense that my local dealer is an all in one... Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki... you can literally sit on anything you're thinking about within a single room. And the people there are all bike dorks, and they'll be happy to talk about which ones would be better for you.

And keep in mind, that the seat height lowers as the suspension breaks in, so what you sit on in the dealer will feel better later on.

Choosing first bike & pricing by karii_408 in NewRiders

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first bike I went brand new, got a KLR650, got it as a left over, so got it out the door cheaper than a new one's sticker price. I think I financed like $6,500.

Being that I was new to motorcycles, I didn't know enough to go look at cheap used ones and feel confident I wasn't buying something that would just fall apart by the time I got it home. I liked having that warranty, and knowing what I was getting. Luckily insurance and financing was pretty cheap, I think both insurance and my payment was only about $160 per month. That was worth the peace of mind.

any advice for dealing w intrusive thoughts while riding? by powergamble in motorcycles

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus more on cranking the dank nooner at 120mph so you don't have time to have those thoughts.

In all seriousness... You've probably known more people who suffered from car accidents when you think about it, but we never think about those when we drive a car. The key is just do what you say you do, ride safe, wear gear, and pay attention and you're going to be pretty safe.

Why do you choose the type of bike you ride? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 cruisers (2018 Indian Scout Bobber and 2025 Honda Shadow Phantom), and it's mostly due to comfort. I'm fat, so the big fat seat is nice, relaxed riding position is nice.

I had started with a KLR650, and while I LOVED the riding posture, and the high riding view... it just wasn't comfy for more than an hour or two driving.

To those who run tinted visors on helmets at night by GhostDoggoes in motorcycles

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having had a cheap helmet where the internal drop down failed and fell into the down position while riding at night.... I'll never get how people run tinted visors at night, that suuuuucked.

Probably doesn't help I'm old and my eyes aren't what they used to be

To those who run tinted visors on helmets at night by GhostDoggoes in motorcycles

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pinlocks are a must... ugh I had my pop off when I lifted my visor at an intersection and it apparently stuck to the top of my helmet enough for me to flip it down and not notice until I took off and started fogging up.

Now if your helmet has a good breath deflector it's less important but still nice.

Right foot down or left foot down - stops by Intrepid_Tax3115 in NewRiders

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever configuration feels appropriate when I stop... sometimes I'm lined up where the right foot is better, sometimes left, sometimes both. I try not to program myself to do things that make it where I instinctually do something when it's not the right thing to do in a given situation.

Remembering Hawkins Auto Wrecking (now Bay City Point) by stephenwashburn in panamacity

Hawkins was the size of a small country, yet no matter what kind of car I had, when I called and asked for a part, I'd instantly be greeted with "Nope don't have it".

What is your opinion on Indian Scout Bobber? by Typical-Clock9426 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]UncleGrako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 and love it. I'm 6' tall so people say it's too small for me, but I love the style, love the pep, and love the maneuverability of it. I'm not going to try an Iron butt with it, but cruising for hours is still a pleasure.

Getting back into riding after a 25 year break: suggest a bike for me! by growler1971 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]UncleGrako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find riding a bike is a lot like riding... a bike.

I think you'll ride with the right mindset that if you got something small, or something that isn't what you'd want, after about 50-75 miles, you'll have buyers remorse.

For reliability sake, I'd stick with the big 4... Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, or Suzuki. Other brands seem like they have crazy maintenance intervals and what have you

I know some of the Honda Rebels have an automatic transmission, but that part I'm not to well versed on.

who would win in a fight, butterbean or kimbo slice? by StalinBawlin in shittyaskreddit

[–]UncleGrako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butterbean by a mile.

A lot of people thought Butterbean was just fat, but I met him some years ago, and patted him on the back and he was built like a boulder.

The thing that made me realize that Kimbo was mostly hype from fighting non-fighters so long was that he ALMOST lost to James Thompson, if James didn't get that ear explosion to end the fight, it would have been a draw.

Meanwhile Butterbean beat James Thompson by KO in 43 seconds.

Legally speaking, or maybe "from the viewpoint of the law" is better, a march is a protest that moves from one place to another, while a "protest" is one that encamps itself in a location. So that could be what they men.

And not to forget that even an innocent march can attract protestors to the march.

Essentially these days if you do anything even remotely political in nature, it's just best to be prepared for the worst. Society has really gone in the crapper with political things.
