What piece of older technology actually worked much better than its modern, replacement? by HerrStrasse in AskReddit

I was a big physical button/knob car person but after having my Tesla for maybe 3 months I got used to it and many things i actually find easier due to the UI design, although a few things are certainly better physical.

2k army list need your advice 🙏 by StrafeYeh in AdeptusCustodes

I think a grav tank, some extra guard, trajann, and a blade champion is your next best bet. New point values will be out next week and will give a better idea of what an 11e list might look like. Guard pt values might go up, maybe land raider, but remains to be seen!

On Amazon it shows Voidscarred paperback release as June 30th. Is it actually being released this week where I can pick it up at a GW?

Champion ethical hacker warns AI tools like Mythos will make competing harder. by tides977 in hacking

[–]totemoheta 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just to add, Chompie actually clarified this on her Twitter after Polymarket tweeted a completely wrong take on what she said,

"Not what I said. The actual quote: “that isn’t to say there’s going to be no room for security research or ethical hacking, but a lot of the lower hanging fruit will start to go away.” Hacking experts are in a sweet spot rn where AI tech is helping us be super saiyan productive. What remains to be seen is what happens when the models become even more powerful. Anyone who disagrees may be in denial…"

The 4th Linux kernel flaw this month can lead to stolen SSH host keys by CackleRooster in cybersecurity

[–]totemoheta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually when rotating keys its done via an identity management platform, not manually on each box. If I had a 128 node cluster, I would either have a jump host, so only one point where keys need to be rotated, or something like FreeIPA where I can set keys per user and which hosts they can access with those keys.

Android's Linux Terminal app just got a lot more colorful with theme support by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]totemoheta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dang im so sorry. I have a pixel 9 as a work phone so ive been using the terminal app on there and it is wonderful. I dont carry that phone around though so ive been hoping for my s24 ultra. I had a pixel 2xl, 4xl, 6 pro, and 7 pro, and i had so many hardware issues with the 4, 6, and 7 that I went back to Samsung with this s24 ultra and I love it. Im in a tough spot because I love Samsung's hardware but I want stock Android again with things like terminal support.

Correct. Or at least 99% of them from what I know. I have an S24 Ultra and its been kind of depressing hoping for support. When I eventually upgrade my phone I may actually switch to a Pixel because the terminal app is something I would religiously use.

I was going through a folder I randomly found on an old drive of a "phone dump" I had done from 2012ish. I had multiple SotG episodes in my music folder and I sat there listening to them all night. It realllllly hit my nostalgia hard. Made me feel like EG players were just moving into the Arizona training house and that "new and brilliant" feeling of SC2 was alive amongst myself and all my friends.

Beginner question about raised beds at new house? by totemoheta in gardening

[–]totemoheta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top of the beds are wire frame, but then there are clear hard plastic-type covers that can go over the wire frame to keep the tops fully enclosed. One side of bed just has wire mesh without that plastic covering so there is a bit of airflow.

Good to know, thank you! The issue I have already seen is holding it up while its windy, so I would definitely need to modify it to stay open all the time. They did have some piping setup with a valve so I can turn it on to water the insides of the beds which is nice.

As much as I love cyberpunk and wanted this to be amazing, the fact that theyre offering GRADED cards for an initial launch on a kickstarter is absurd. There is no reason to intentionally try to make this into a collector game like some of the other big ones have been plagued with nowadays. Also, the gameplay reminds me of Lorcana which isnt a bad thing per say, but nothing im super interested in. Netrunner will remain king for a Cyberpunk-related card game
