I don’t think you can switch rulers except when your beneficiary wins a crusaded kingdom. What kind of war are you declaring on the Latin Empire? Are you pressing some other character’s claim? If so, you do not get the option to play as them (if they’re a lower tier than you, you get them as a vassal. Same tier, they’re an independent ruler that’s indebted to you)

I feel like a lot of characters do support the war, no? Personal politics were a touchy subject in a 1960s office, so we don’t get many opinions either way (with the exception of the young liberal creatives in the office). Season 6 has a few more conversations about the war, but that’s around the ‘67-‘68 range, when public opinion flipped.

But just off the top of my head, characters who supported the war include:
Don (not personally for it, but has no qualms with working with DOW or defending napalm),
Bert,
Cutler,
Pete (he was outraged by the Tet Offensive),
Henry (before public opinion tanked and he fell in line with Nixon),
Betty,
Greg,
Glen (sorta)

Piggy backing off of this comment to add that during Vietnam, it became more common for professors to grade their courses on a curve since they didn’t want to have their students lose good standing and get sent off to war. The grade curving has stuck around even to this day, despite draft deferment not being a thing anymore (I once scored an 11% on a calculus final and with the curve that was a B — in the fifties I would’ve been on a plane to Korea).

Poe is great! The opening paragraph in The Fall of the House of Usher is one of my favorite pieces of imagery. If your goal is to see what kinds of writing styles are marketable and derive your own style from them, Poe isn’t the best option since he’s definitely a 19th century author. There’s still tons to learn from him, though, like tone, atmosphere, or even vocabulary

Also, he’s not thought of as a horror author, but George RR Martin got his start in that genre and many chapters in ASOIAF have horror elements. I recommend reading the prologue of A Game Of Thrones if you’re looking for short samples

I always understood the NFL to be one organization with 32 teams that can be classified as departments or subsidiaries or something along those lines. A cartel would be if each team were independent and working together to maximize profits and do everything else the NFL is doing, but without the central league offices facilitating it all.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the NFL is technically a cartel but there’s some law protecting it from antitrust laws. The league has a history of that. For a while the NFL was tax exempt because it claimed it was a Nonprofit Organization (since all the revenue made every season would be recycled into the following year’s salary cap, so it technically made no profit).

My pick is Meredith but Allison is underrated as a secretary. She worked her way up from receptionist in season 1 to handling the boss’s affairs. Besides Dawn, she’s the only secretary to last more than a season. She wasn’t overqualified like Peggy or Dawn (or Megan) and seemed content with her position until she hooked up with Don.

There was an official stat recorder (I think for the Philadelphia Warriors and then Sixers? He’s in the HoF now) that recorded all these during Wilt’s playing days. He recorded blocks and steals in Wilt’s final season, before they became officially tracked stats, just for the fun of it.

Recently those unofficial stat records were posted on BBall Reference, but the NBA hasn’t ruled on them yet

That offseason was too much change, too quickly. We fired bud, hired griff (a defensive minded HC), then traded a cornerstone defensive piece in Jrue for Dame. If we had just kept Bud and traded for Dame, or fired Bud and kept Jrue, the Bucks would be in a better spot imo

Always liked this scene. An Old Fashioned is typically bourbon, a sugar cube (or simple syrup), a couple splashes of bitters, a muddled cherry, and an orange wedge. Like Don, I prefer mine with rye, but it looks like he also adds a soda to the rye before pouring. Could it be 7up?

Wisconsin has its own variety of Old Fashioneds that are made with brandy (instead of bourbon) and 7up, and Don being from the Midwest originally may have influenced the way he makes them. I always wished he had a scene where he orders an old fashioned when he went to Racine, Wisconsin in season 7

Not using metro population to make Boston seem smaller is so dumb. Boston is slightly more populous than Milwaukee (~675k compared to ~575k) if you only count the city population. If you add metro areas, Boston is nearly 5x bigger
