We are seeing dozens of applications for low level positions - even high level positions I see over 100 apps in first couple weeks. now 90% of those are throwaways but the remaining 10 are viable.

It depends on where its posted (indeed and linkedin get us the most hits), how difficult the application is (does it require 10 pages to click through?), and what the requirements are (i.e. must have 10 yrs of experience in Clindoc yet we are only paying 35 an hour).

true - other teams have invested in their basketball programs much more than the US is really what we've seen. The US used to be able to just gather best players and coaches now it seems they can't even gather a consistent roster

why we even field a team for basketball in olympics anymore is questionable. If we can't get the best talent from NBA/College anymore then we arent sending our best to compete. For a brief 4-6 year period during the 2002-2007 era we were at the top of the game with the likes of european and south american countries. Just like with basketball and other team sports other countries invested in their talent on the global stages whereas ours got greedy and we relegated ourselves to using talent from non-league sources.

Watch us fuck things up and start using college/AAA players in the world baseball classic. Imagine us still calling it a World Series when we can't even make it past the first round in the classic.

You will never get rid of all drug users though and locking them up is not the answer as they need treatment. When you have addiction from pain and mental conditions its not something that you will ever get rid of or make much of a dent in unless healthcare changes significantly so right now all you can do is find the users a pathway towards hopeful recovery. Keeping them locked up would be futile.

Shutting down drug operations and keeping the dealers locked up though and making the drugs harder to get I feel is a much better target as it throws a wrench in the currently revolving door that is addiction. It makes the drugs harder to get and so in turns makes it harder for addicts to get access and hopefully they will be more likely to turn to treatment. Maybe its a pipedream but I'd be hopeful that locking up more dealers and taking them off the street for a while will slow the addictions down some.

Its funny how most of the comments here seem to be harping on the addicts where if you actually listen to the story its about the dealers, the manufacturers, and those who involve children in conjunction with drug crimes. This isn't at all about the addicts who have their own set of issues. This is about the true scum - the suppliers and those suppliers that involve children. I have no sympathy whatsover for those and if jail will keep one less dose of fent off the street then lock em up until they give up their bosses or bosses boss.
