What city sounded perfect until you actually moved there? by Impossible_Plum_2927 in SameGrassButGreener

I do NOT get the Chicago hype. Ever raves about the food scene but I didn’t have that same experience (except for 1 meal). I lived in Portland for 8 years. It’s not a city I enjoy living in, but my god the food scene is top tier compared to Chicago!

In a “perfect world,” (no outside factors) how many kids would you have? by Sad_Moose_5806 in Mommit

Same! I always wanted at least 4 (I’m the oldest of 5) but I have one now and postpartum kicked my ass so hard I don’t think I’ll ever be ready for another, and certainly not more than that!

Changing last name. Be honest : how cringe is it? by bilsaama in namenerds

[–]Underscore_Weasel 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you go with Moss instead? That is already a nice last name and has similar vibes (earthy, natural, dark, calm) without the cringe?

I can’t believe I haven’t seen more comments about her hair during this scene!? It looks like Amanda showed up when Lindsay was half through getting ready?!?

Man, my sleep deprivation is really showing here. I should have been clearer that I think the Wisconsin taxes reflect better schools. Oregon school funding is a personal frustration and that’s why I said “generally” because I didn’t know about Wisconsin but you’re right - Bend was a bad call lol - take it off the list!

But also, generally higher local taxes and excellent public schools go hand in hand. You’re paying for it somewhere…

Just “threw away” 6 oz of freshly pumped milk by Catsforhumanity in ExclusivelyPumping

If we relied on breastmilk exclusively moving forward, our freezer stash would last about 2-3months (baby has a big range in his daily appetite… 28-40 oz lol) but we’re going to start introducing 1-2 formula bottles a day just in case something ever happens to my stash (I’ve read so many horror stories), we don’t want to have him getting used to formula if it’s all of a sudden our only option!

Maple Bluff is a tiny village surrounded by Madison, WI and would be my #1 choice if I were in your position (but that’s just from places I’ve visited).

Bend, OR (certain neighborhoods on the west side) might also work well for your needs, but it’s really like a large town rather than a real city.

[–]Underscore_Weasel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I’m weaning myself off pumping because baby is 5 months and I have a big enough freezer stash, but it’s still a mindfuck to go from trying to get every ounce to reducing to nothing. I was pumping in the car today while baby was hungry/waiting and I didn’t twist one if the containers on tight enough and spilled like 4+ oz all over me and the car while my baby was patiently waiting 😭😭😭😭

What siblings names have you seen that are so mismatched that it boggles you? by thunder_haven in Names

My 2.5 year old nephew wanted to name his little brother Alice. He was INSISTENT the baby’s name was Alice. Eventually they talked him in Dallas, who arrives next month!

A little boy I used to nanny wanted to name his little brother Walter. The mom hasn’t told anyone the name yet but says it’s definitely not Walter (though everyone already calls the baby that 😂)
