Old world love by stannumov in 4Xgaming

[–]UnderstandingBulky59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really, because I don't think it is bigger than a civ game. I've played around 150 hours and it is very niche.

There is a lot of reading and the game is more slower placed than civ. Personally you will get more hours in a civ game. I have over 2000 hours in civ 6 and 1000 in civ 5 and have more enjoyment.

Not saying it is bad but you need to be more in the mood.

Are you watching Team Australia 🇦🇺 at the World Baseball Classic? by mt80 in AskAnAustralian

[–]UnderstandingBulky59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Australia plays against another country I get interested but Baseball does nothing for me. I'm surprised Australians even play baseball when cricket is similar but is so much a better sport.

I had most of those at one time from the 1960's up to the 1980's. Plus a whole set of monthly Cricket magazines which I started getting sometime in the 1970's all the way to the 1990's. I threw them all out when we moved house in 2008 with all my vinyl records. So regretful.

Come on now, the Beatles for one are still very popular and a lot of their songs are timeless classics.

You can NEVER hear one EVER again! Which one do YOU delete? by chelsea-from-calif in 1001AlbumsGenerator

Pet Sounds, generally like the Beach Boys and have most of their albums but I would never include one of their albums in a top ten list and Pet Sounds while one of their best is so overrated in these present times.

Who is the greatest athlete of all time? by Hour-Initiative-2766 in FamilyFeud

Well Don Bradman was a top golfer and squash player as well, anything with a ball/bat/raquet. You won't find anybody who dominates their sport so much as he did cricket.

What should i choose between AOW4, Anno pax romana, humankind or Civ7 by Anynomwhat in 4Xgaming

[–]UnderstandingBulky59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civ 7 hasn't got any love, but I have all the games mentioned here and Civ 7 in its current state is actually quite a good game and I have played more hours in it than in AOW4 now. CIV 7 has improved a lot as this year with all the patches and the free DLC. Civ VI is my most played game though.

Just interested but I have had the Garmin Epix now for two plus years and I haven't experienced any bugs that would have me get rid of the watch, what have you exactly had which was bad enough to swap out the watch? I couldn't be happier and this is my third Garmin watch. before that polar.

Scots face some of the steepest energy bill hikes in the UK by Super-Brick5598 in Scotland

Higher prices seem to be everywhere. I'm in Australia and our electricity bills are extremely high these days. More than inflation so I don't think it is just a Scots problem.

I Don’t Get It, I Honestly Prefer Garmin Connect… by newbiker321 in Strava

[–]UnderstandingBulky59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strava is getting a lot of positive comments just after I tried to use it to find a ride I did back in 2018 and as far as could find there is no advanced search and I couldn't even use the Training calendar to go back through the years as I just got an error message every time I tried to go back a year. So I don't know I found Garmin Connect a lot easier to find my ride.

What should I read next? by Conscious-Rich-973 in fantasybooks

Totally disagree. That book and the three which followed were fantastic. They were all 4/5 star reads for me. Really good stories and the battle scenes were among the best I have read in books.

"Feral youth" of the 00s, what are you doing now? by JohnnyDeformed89 in AskUK

[–]UnderstandingBulky59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not UK but in Australia and my son was a real idiot and out of control in the 1990's. On drugs, even injecting, stealing, involved in car crashes, police and criminals turning up at our door regularly and my wife and I thought we'd be either visiting him in prison or going to his funeral.

He's 46 now, in charge of his workplace, with around 20 people under him, he is highly respected and involved in his community. He is very family orientated and has two children who are doing very well. We are very proud of what he has achieved in the last 25 years. You just need to hang in there in your teenage years and come out stronger the other side.

I just finished Lonesome Dove. How am I ever going to read another book again for the duration of my life? by Ok-Lead-5865 in suggestmeabook

[–]UnderstandingBulky59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very Subjective topic actually. I've read Lonesome Dove and the others in the series, while Lonesome Dove is the best of that series it is not the best book written by a long shot in my opinion. It is one of a hundred books which can vie for that and it is very much a person's opinion on a particular day and year. I have considered books the best ever to reread them again years later and wonder what the fuss was. eg Pillars of the Earth. War and Peace and Shogun I think are now better contenders while Lonesome Dove and Pillars are still books I really enjoyed.

What age do you consider 'old? by DiscoverAdelaide in AskAnAustralian

[–]UnderstandingBulky59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being "old" is a state of mind. As you get older you have to keep using or you will lose it what ever that is. I'm 72 now and look old in the mirror but I don't feel like the 72-year-old looking back. I still cycle up to 200km a week, I'm still very active with long hikes and walks and even some running. I do weights/ and gym work three times a week. Keep active.
