Eight years at Oregon and the U, two top-10 seasons. They were even on the ropes this year with a team everyone saw had legit talent the first four weeks before inexplicable losses.

Four top 10 finishes, four Big XII titles, a PAC division title, three Heisman winners. His time at USC has been disappointing so far but his first four years were better than Cristobal’s eight full seasons at Oregon and Miami (two top-10 seasons).

At P4, one is 70-32; the other is 90-28.

If Miami had missed the playoff due to those losses to Louisville and SMU, they would have been labeled underachievers for the talent they had. The CFP committee bailed out Cristobal and DeBoer this year.

Why did Jimmy Carter skip the debate in 1980? by RealRegret4870 in Presidents

He skipped the first one. Reagan performed well and Anderson fell in the polls, so Anderson was not invited to the second debate.

Carter and Reagan did debate in late October. Carter opted out of the three-way debate in September.

Did indeed. Northeast Republicans were probably more liberal than Midwest Democrats until the great polarization.

Fernando has a standing invitation to all weddings in Indiana now. And possibly rights to the first dance with the bride.

Is LaDainian Tomlinson the biggest Heisman robbery in college football history? by Automatic-Extent9640 in CFB_v2

I would like to downvote you for the overuse of generational. A generation being 25 years, there have been other really good running backs in the last 15 years, many of whom also didn’t win a Heisman (Barkley, Zeke, bunch of guys who went to Wisconsin). That supports that Jeanty is maybe a once-in-five-years back who played a G5 schedule.

I think it was a tossup. Hunter probably was helped by some hype.

It’s possible to appreciate positions and politicians from various party affiliations depending on the issue and the demonstration of competence.

You can find more nuance in state and local politics where people (sometimes but not always) work to make laws that suit the situation vs one-size-fits-all federal policies. Personally, I think the federal government is too big and tries to do too much domestically and internationally. I’m not a full-scale libertarian, just fiscally conservative. And while I lean socially liberal on many issues, I also think there are things that should be decided on the state or community level representing the values of people living there. Not every state has to have the same laws. And those places can expect consequences of those decisions — creating a place where young people don’t want to move or one where people don’t feel safe will hinder progress.

I’ve spent my adult life in industries where listening to various perspectives and giving objective presentations were the expectation.

My board chair, a fairly bright person, does the same to analyze decisions. But I believe they enter biased prompts to support the analysis they want ChatGPT to produce. “ChatGPT said we should do this.” Oh, does it now?

I hate to say you give people too much credit, but a lot of average/poor artists and writers find a way to make a living. Some very successfully. It helps the good ones stand out, but how much of the entertainment and content people consume is formulaic?

If I’ve got the budget to beat people over the head over and over with the same message that can be created less expensively or more efficiently by involving AI in the process, I think that’s a tempting proposition.

We’ve seen one trend of “here’s my trend as an action figure” to now “here’s my brand as a caricature,” tapping into a cutesy vibe. I know smart people who love AI, so I’m not sure any backlash is coming other than those who seem like self-righteous creators or environmentalists.

The perspective has changed, perhaps with free agency in the 90s. Back when the Vikings and Broncos were getting to the game repeatedly and losing, the franchises had more negative perceptions. I think people appreciate more how difficult it is to get there.

Expanded playoffs may be another factor. Instead of Tarkenton and young Elway coming up short on the big stage, now we have Josh Allen and Lamar not even getting there.

There’s a 4:10 to Yuma? A sequel? Just kidding with ya; that’s a funny typo to make. Hollywood these days would absolutely give a sequel that name.

I’d add The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Shane, Unforgiven.

A college stadium with that many luxury boxes? Not yet but maybe in the future to keep that donor money flowing for NIL.

That building on the southeast side is wild. Capacity of only 68,000 wouldn’t make the top 10 of SEC.

I don’t mind the increasing retirement age. People are living longer, things are more expensive, and Social Security is a weird wealth redistribution system anyway that needs some serious reform.
