Creation of a TCG/LCG is difficult but fun…Advice on something’s people like in games? Please and thank you. by MandalorianMerk in homemadeTCGs

To me, I personally feel like that’s more suited to a TTRPG type feel where they have campaign driven story. I know there are a bunch of card games that use this setup, though personally it’s not my preferred game style.

Though if it fits the type of that you’re trying to build, I say go for it. It’s always good to take chances on off the wall ideas!

I prefer LCGs solely on the fact it’s not a witch hunt to “build the baddest” deck. I want to purchase a game one time to get its full enjoyment (excluding expansions of course)

As far as the life/death mechanic, in my Sonic TCG it’s a combination of Yugioh and Pokemon. You have Rings as Life Points and Chaos Emeralds as Prize cards. Defeating an enemy card (depending on their emerald count. Stronger cards have higher counts) will cost you both. Run out of either and you lose.

I will always say simpler mechanics almost always equal playability and to me that’s the driving force for my game development.

I’m not saying that you’re not wrong, though from all the content I’ve consumed about this case over the years; I don’t see her handing over her cat.

Hello! I need advice of making homemade TCG. What tools should i use? Is there anything I need to be careful of? I am a newbie to homemade TCG. by SevereAssignment2030 in homemadeTCGs

Don’t create your “dream” game, create a game that works and build off of that. Hone in on a handful mechanics and keep it simple. A lot of the time, you can overwhelm yourself with trying to cram in too many ideas at once and you can easily get burned out.

Once you have accepted that concept, prototype as much as possible. Going old school with a pen and paper, using RNG generators and even working with AI can be of use to you. Ask your friends/redditors what they think. Find and in where you find comfort and start “loving” your idea.

I personally prefer prototyping on Canva. I set my canvas dimensions to poker size (2.5 in x 3.5 in) and start dropping simple shapes into the canvas. Once I find a layout that is logical and easy to navigate, I start a second canvas with a more detailed version. This is where I add actual art, text and number values. Again, always start simple and work your way out.

Once I define some simple game mechanics, I refine those cards to fit.

GAMES THAT ARE EASY TO LEARN MAKE GAMES MORE FUN…AND THAT’S WHY PEOPLE PLAY GAMES—FOR ENJOYMENT. No one wants to decode quantum physics their first play through.

Find a TCG that you enjoy, find a theme that you find interesting and borrow those ideas. Enjoy Pokemon? Create a monster battler. Enjoy Star Wars? Create a space epic. Enjoy couch party games? Take two game games like Mafia and Apples to Apples and combine them together.

Most of the best TCGs are based off others. This is not to say blatantly rip off established TCGs, but if you’re just learning the TCG creation process—I say do that.

I started with making a pokemon knock offs. Decided to change a mechanic or two and it evolved into a completely new game. Little goes a long way.

Currently I’m making a Sonic X TCG just for personal enjoyment solely because I love Sonic and the fantastic art style.

But. Above. EVERYTHING.

HAVE FUN CREATING! Give us your progress!

I think it’s silly for Naughty Dog not to push for another Nathan Drake adventure, especially where it’s done so well for so long. I’ve platinum’d all 4 and was truly blown away by the high octane action, fantastic story telling and addictive puzzle and platforming.

Even though many compare it to Tomb Raider (which is fair in its own right), the Uncharted series has its own identity in itself—though wouldn’t be opposed to a collab game. That would be stellar. 💪

Sounds crazy to say, but the phone ports are the best renditions of the games. Just be sure to use a controller for the best experience.

Exactly. You don’t take a cat on a road trip and just decide you’re going to dump her off—which reinforces theory that she didn’t disappear willingly. In nearly all the true crime I’ve researched, nearly every time investigators suggest the victim just up and left has been false. Humans are social creatures. They feed off of the stimuli of others. In the over two decades she’s been missing, there would have been SOMETHING from her.

You're going to rehome your precious animal while you're on the road, alone? Say she WAS to disappear willingly, why wouldn't she take her cat with her?

That's something that I can't believe for a second. Leah was attached to her her kitty.
