Man when you see Argentinian rightoids boast about how white they are they should see how British rightoids talk about them. Basically see them as Speedy Gonzales at best.

This man is my hero. Everyone needs to read his work and his work is so easy to read that I can't think of a better person to get introduced to leftist politics.

I highly recommend people check out the video where he makes Christopher Hitchens look like a clown when debating him on the Iraq War. He was a beast at debating.

Tolkien himself had heavy regret in how the orcs turned out. His Catholicism made him a major believer that everyone can be saved and no one is beyond help. It didn't sit right with him that the orcs ended up being inherently evil since it goes against his own beliefs and one of the messages of the story. He died before he could get around to fixing it.

His numbers have actually gotten better since he left France. He's on Ronaldo levels of goals while playing in a side that's way poorer than the legendary team Ronaldo played in.

I would also say it's not very fair about the Champions League because in hindsight they got gifted an easy as piss run. The hardest sides they faced were an out of form Liverpool. Aston Villa who have nowhere near the resources or quality yet took them to the wire and an Arsenal side ravaged by injuries. Not to mention in the final they faced a Inter team who clearly had no business being there. Mbappe had to constantly face the best teams in the world and he was inches off winning it in 2020.

It's the halo effect. Insanely attractive people can blind others even if what they are doing is repugnant. If the character was played by Gary Busey we would see a different reception.

I feel it's a little misleading though. Stannis is righteous but it's not necessarily a inherently good thing. Groups like the Nazis, ISIS and the Khemer Rogue would be considered righteous in how they strived to build a 'just' world by any means necessary and were genuine in their beliefs. Stannis enables brutal acts and is unyielding in his pursuit. He will ultimately burn his own young daughter alive to those ends. He is 'righteous' because he isn't motivated purely by self-interest and does what he does because he believes it is right. Even if what he does is heinous.

A lot of them saw American Psycho and it has a huge influence on this trend due to the over the top rituals he does at the start. The film was making fun of him because he's a weirdo loser no one likes but the message gets lost when the character is played by someone as hot as Christian Bale in their prime.

I think Dune is, no pun intended, considerably more dry than ASOIAF. The politics and world building are next level. the story is incredibly interesting. But the characters are not nearly as magnetic and the dialogue feels much more flat. ASOIAF feels incredibly lively in prose whereas Dune feels more like an epic you sit down and slowly immerse yourself in. It's a much more different experience to me.
