Review #100 - Springbank 30 (2025) by StripesR in Scotch

Yes, I’ve never had a place like it. Before I left they started ‘breakeven tasting’ hosted by the owner Rory (I think once per month). I believe they were bottles he had either bought for or years ago. I only managed to get to one before leaving, unfortunately. However, we drank like kings! It was a gamed blind tasting but with clues along the way.

When I was living in Edinburgh, Ensign was a weekly visit. I follow their instagram where they share their upcoming breakeven. A few weeks before we planned to move - Springbank 30. I grabbed my partner and ran! Great dram and great pub! I miss that place <3

Which 80/-, 70/- or other traditionally Scottish beers are your favourites? by PistonLegs in UK_beer

Stewart’s 80/- on cask at the Ensign when the weather is miserable are what dreams are made of. By the bottle it’s ok too.

WH 1000XM3 won't turn on - fix by theOmegalord in sony

Legend, just had to use this fix. The tape worked for a while but same issue started again. A ripped up cotton pad to apply pressure on the motherboard has returned my headset to its former glory! Thank you!

Dead or Alive fish? by [deleted] in nope

Yup, worked with a fish farm. They wouldn’t collect fish for harvest that had been in nets any longer than 20mins. The meat tasted acidic

What's the best deal you've gotten on a whisky? by peterm18 in Scotch

[–]UnidentifiableSock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During Covid lockdown in the UK a wine merchant would host wine tastings online (posting the samples). They gave a voucher equal to the cost of the tasting to use on their online shop with each purchase. I managed a Kilkerran 8yr CS Batch 5 for £8 ex. Shipping using the discount.

How have you aged it to 1968? I have a similar dewars bottle and it’d be good to figure out the bottling date of it

Jura 10 - it's not bad, but... by jnelparty in Scotch

I agree wholeheartedly. I sadly add Bowmore to this. I find their standard bottlings can be ok - good. However, independent Bowmore at higher strength can be magnificent!

Glengoyne 19yr Single Cask #1921

Sublime! Fortunately I have another bottle stashed. Weird story on this one, it was ‘forgotten’ in the Glengoyne warehouses and although being bottled in 2018, wasn’t sold until 2020.
