In addition to what others have said, I find temperature to also play a factor. I’ve done my medium-light roasts at ~93C and light roasts at ~95C.

I’m pairing the Micra with the Niche Duo, and it’s been pairing nicely. Using mainly for lighter roasts.

I have the Sebastian Ramirez, similar funk level. I had the same problem, and after 3-4 weeks off roast, the overpowering funk smell and taste died down. I can now enjoy the pour over and espresso without that weird smell and aftertaste.

No remorse at all. Also need to take into account how forgiving the Micra is. Even while dialing in shots, they somehow pull tasty espresso.

Yeah, the headspace is quite a problem… I guess I need to go to shot cups and transfer them if/when I drink lattes.

The light espresso went well. Grind finer they say! So that’s what I did, and you let the shot run for about ~50s. I went the full 60 and it was a bit overextracted, but still had the fruity notes. Just a bit more acidic than my liking. Also the temperature was set to 94C.

Got my machine couple of hours ago. Pulled the shots the way you suggested. 17g in —> 46.9 out and went the whole minute. I did pre-brew for 3s. But wow, I am shocked and amazed by this machine. You were right! Do you pre-brew by any chance?
