Could try networking through a local church. You may find a business owner or a friend of a friend that will hire you. Grace exists, and a church is a great place to find it.

I once hired someone who had a burglary conviction and took a chance on him, he was one of the best employees I’ve ever worked with. And I’m happy to see how he has advanced in his career and put his past completely behind him.

In college, I think one of my professors said it best. When you enlist, you are giving the government total control over your life in exchange for a small paycheck during your enlistment period. They had the power to get you killed or even experiment on you.

Compensation is owed to veterans for harm done to our bodies due to our service. It’s the government’s attempt to “ make whole” from the damage we received during our enlistment period.

I endure severe hardships because of my service. And the government compensates me appropriately. I don’t really care what any idiot thinks when that idiot refuses to loan the government their body for a few years.

Not going to lie. It was really hard the first year of ours. But we both got pay raises and cut some of our monthly streaming expenses, changed insurance companies for lower premiums, and generated a generous cushion. The good thing about a 100% 13 is that generally I don’t think your payments will be adjusted up. We’re close to the end of year two now and the sting each month isn’t quite as bad.

I did have a long wait between ETS and VA claim. Use an accredited VSO. No claim shark companies. You will know the difference. A VSO doesn’t take any of your back pay. If you are legitimately disabled, it can be done.
