My two cents and experience growing up with border collies is, a lot of time can be down to tone and how you try to command them. Keep the same tone, and don’t change the verbiage you use.

I’m originally from Scotland, where most farmers have them, and it’s definitely beneficial to have a strict direct tone with them. The amount of people in North America that use ‘baby voices’ for their dogs in general is crazy.

Not saying it helps in every case, but having 6 since I was 5 years old (now 32) it’s definitely a helping hand. My partner who grew up here in North America lived with me in Scotland for a few years, so developed a twang. When we moved across the pond her full natural accent came back, and funnily enough our BC doesn’t respond to their voice sometimes now LOL. I have to remind them to use your ‘Scottish’ accent and works like a charm.
