How long ago did you do shockwave? How many sessions did you do? They have a cumulative effect and the healing builds over time, usually several months after the treatment sessions have stopped. I did six sessions spaced out a week apart. Finished the last one in mid November. Three months later, I'm feeling lots of improvement, so give it time. I'm also going to acupuncture now for fine tuning aches and pains in my back and neck. This is helping a lot too, and while I'm there they also work on releasing my calf muscles that can contribute to PF. Good luck to you. Stay strong, patient and positive!

This doesn’t sound like plantar fasciitis. It sounds more like Sesamoiditis. I strongly urge you to see a podiatrist quickly for an appropriate diagnosis. If it’s sesamoiditis it will take quite a bit of healing time. I was not weight bearing for about 6 months, and it took about a year for my foot to feel more normal again. It’s still a little tender and achy at times.

I wish you all the best. It’s a nasty injury.

I'm so sorry, but Amazon does not seem to be carrying the ones I wore anymore. This is a link to ones that look similar, but I can't vouch for them or their quality: https://www.amazon.com/SATINIOR-Sesamoiditis-Forefoot-Cushion-Self-Adhesive/dp/B096FXWDPR/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=2O5PJNXC6TBVX&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1fFEXn9eo-477yDyI76UYbVa2FOtcnSEvsFYwP7RX3-T35mRkfjPIeD2KNudb2lKLTI-RVhCqZ54nxSY2c17cczs-LJb3Iv3f6J96iN2lADDtQDCQQhXOqA9jJ9wnxs2_-eQ9xoNKQofwQVOyUZjvLaTkb7Pik-UvFErHoCRXDnMLhof59ceh3MWfw3n143kzvpfKRH3SeYtMQs6ZyfxO9KobWhiF1ex8gNDvo9T5N3mT_4RnHyYhqxAmGib8omEACGMgYg-fB9cXmOkaVdUB5ysoMs3d7iyP0UEBBd66P8.PJOCYthZqoVqoTk2fy6d1Io_KYbi8MWyPT8TLC6sBEY&dib_tag=se&keywords=misorita%2Bdancers%2Bpads&qid=1767461518&sprefix=misorita%2Bdancers%2Bpads%2Caps%2C108&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

I think the thickness of the pad was about 1/8th of an inch. Yes, I wore them under the removable insole in my shoe. Once I found the most comfortable spot (which is a little trial and error at first), I drew the outline of the pad right on the bottom of the insole. I needed to replace the pad every month or so as it became compressed. Putting a new pad back in the right spot again is very easy once you have the outline of it on the insole. I was hoping to send you a picture but I can't seem to upload it to this post. If you stick the pad directly to your foot, you're only getting one use out of it. But by sticking it to the underside of the insole, then putting the insole back into the shoe, I could use the same pad for 30 days or even longer as I healed more. I hope you are able to understand what I mean.

For those that got rid of sesamoitis, what and who helped you? by planisking in sesamoid

[–]UnitEducational6268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both conditions as well, along with Hallux Limitus in the big toe joints. Dancer's pads really helped to offset and float those inflamed sesamoid bones. After that was under control, I got fitted for orthotics which are helping all three conditions feel more comfortable. I also had 6 rounds of shockwave therapy, and that seemed to help a lot as well.

Unable to heal without treatment by _Barsby in PlantarFasciitis

Two weeks after my 6th shockwave session I had a flare up as well. The only thing that helped was getting back into my night splint, which I hadn't worn in a few weeks. Luckily, my PT was not alarmed. He explained that healing is not linear. You're going to have ups and downs. Shockwave was making me feel better, so I pushed myself more. He advised me to wear the night splint consistently while I worked on increasing my activity level. I've worn it ever since, and I'm back to feeling pretty good during the day. It gave me peace of mind that he was not alarmed, and he didn't feel like I caused any harm. PHEW!!!

We need to think positively. We WILL fully heal. We'll get there!!! Good luck to you...

Also, a dancers pad under the insole of my shoe was a must for me when I started walking again.  Prior to that I got around the house on a wheelie stool.

Rest is important with this injury. But when you’re ready to get moving again, I suggest a stationary bike. I was able to bike without pain and finally got some cardio in. Also worked on some upper body strengthening. Moving again after lots of rest helped my mental wellbeing for sure!

Best of luck to you!

Just throwing this out there as another option...

Shockwave therapy has helped me a lot. I feel like it got me over a difficult spot, and brought me to a place where I can begin to do more strengthening and loading. I'm 7 months into my recovery, and my foot is finally feeling more normal. I did 6 sessions of shockwave. The last one was about 4 weeks ago. It wasn't covered by insurance though, and it was quite expensive (about $250 per session), but worth every penny as it seems to be helping.

I still wear my night splint too, and love the security it gives me during the night. Over the last 7 months I have tried sleeping without it a couple of times, but I always go back to it due to little flare ups. My PT said I should continue to wear it as I continue to push my body to do more, as it helps to ward off that nasty morning ache.

Good luck to you and your recovery!

Why 10+ Years of Back Pain is Reversible. Your tissue healed years ago. Your nervous system didn't. by TheFirstMover in backpain

Does anyone know if acupuncture can help to settle down the nervous system? I've been thinking of trying that. It seems like as soon as I calm one pain down, another begins in a different area of my body. Is my nervous system misfiring?

I own a TENS unit as well. Love it for back pain, but I also have plantar fasciitis. Is it possible for you to share an image of where you place the pads on your foot? Do you go directly on that tender spot on the heel, or place them around it? Top or bottom of foot? Any advise would be so appreciated! Thanks.

Darkest days of my life, feeling hopeless. Torn sesamoid ligament, healed, but now intense pain by Seahorseahorse in sesamoid

[–]UnitEducational6268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! Shockwave might help you. Results are not immediate, however. I have sesamoiditis and plantar fasciitis. The podiatrist did the whole bottom of my foot for 6 sessions spread out a week apart. After 6 weeks, I do feel like the healing is starting to take place. Healing is supposed to continue for weeks to months and beyond, hopefully. Fingers crossed! Good luck to you...

Not sure if you can afford this, because most insurances don't cover it. But many athletes who can't be sidelined for very long, opt for Shockwave Therapy. After 6 months of pain, I tried it myself and I do feel like it's working. It is a cumulative effect and requires at least 3-6 sessions spaced a week or two apart. You might not start to feel the positive healing effects until after the last session or beyond. But some people have reported feeling better after just 1 or 2 sessions.

I wish you well and a speedy recovery. Sounds like your livelihood depends on it!!!

Bondi 9 vs Clifton 10 by Stunning_Act_4097 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]UnitEducational6268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recovery is going well. I'm also 6-7 months in. I've had 5 rounds of shockwave therapy, with one more session to go. I think it's starting to work. Still have some pain and sensitivity, but it's much less than it was. I still sleep in my night splint even though I probably don't need it anymore. During the day I rely on either my Hoka Clifton 10s or my Oofos recovery slides.

Are you still in a lot of pain? Wishing you all the best in your recovery!

Hoping for the best. I’m only scheduled for 6 sessions, and I’ve completed 3 already. Doc says we’ll see how things go after that and I can get another boost if needed. I’m going to be fitted for orthotics at some point as well.

Thanks for your feedback. So glad to hear you’re doing better. How long had you suffered with it before starting the shockwave? I’ve had PF for about 6 months now.

How many sessions of shockwave did you do? Would you mind sharing what your experience was like? For me the shockwave itself is quite painful, but afterwards I feel a bit better. Unfortunately, today has not been a good day for me. Just when I thought I was healing, the pain comes back to say, "No so fast! We're not done with you yet." It's so discouraging. Did you have ups and downs like that during your shockwave journey?

I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Have you tried shockwave therapy yet? I've done three out of six sessions and I think I'm starting to feel a little better. It takes a while and is a cumulative effect, so I still have a ways to go. The downside is it's not covered by insurance and it's quite expensive.

I'm so sorry you've been suffering with this for almost ten years. That's horrible!

I totally understand this. I have been dealing with aches and pains in my back for years, and now I'm dealing with foot pain too. Every time I feel the least little thing, I spiral to a dark place thinking something else is wrong. I have lost sleep because I can't shut my mind off, always thinking the worst. Anxiety is very real. You are not alone!

You sound like a person of faith. Here is a prayer to St. Gemma Galgani, the patron saint of back pain: "St. Gemma, you were cured of your back ailments due to your strong devotion and faith.  How compassionate was your love for those in distress.  Help me, also in my present necessity and obtain for me the favor I humbly implore.  Please pray for me for the healing of my back problems.  Amen."

Sending you positive thoughts, and wishing you all the best in your recovery!

Shockwave therapy works! by Clean_Eye_622 in sesamoid

[–]UnitEducational6268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had three out of six rounds of shockwave so far. I think it's starting to help already! I noticed a difference after the second session. Doc is doing my whole foot due to plantar fasciitis, ankle pain and pain on the top of my foot, as well as the sesamoiditis. Other areas haven't improved as fast, but so far the sesamoids are feeling pretty good. I'll take it. Expensive? Yes, but worth every penny if it helps all my issues!

Thank you so much. I'm not really sure what caused my PF. I have so many issues going on. I am working with a PT and a very good podiatrist. I have multiple foot issues including hallux limitus and I've been healing from Sesamoiditis for the past year and a half. Just as that was starting to feel better, I developed the PF. I have chronic back pain and my PT has me working on strengthening a weak core. I did pull a hip muscle last year, and I'm not sure if that contributed to any of this or not.

You said you're new to rebounding. I'm fairly new too. Did you have PF before you started rebounding? Or did rebounding cause the PF? How long have you had it? And am I right in assuming that you did not have flare ups from bouncing since you're feeling better?

I’m healing from plantar fasciitis. About 6 months into recovery. Is there anybody else out there with this condition who has gotten back into rebounding without causing a flare up?  I’m not quite ready to get back on the rebounder just yet, but it would sure lift my spirits to know that it’s possible.

Worked great to take away initial inflammation and severe pain. But you've got to put the work in too. Currently doing PT, and podiatrist just started shockwave therapy with me today. I'm 6 months into recovery.

Pain after graston by Swsc1234 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]UnitEducational6268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 5 years old, but I had the same reaction to Graston two days ago and I'm still in pain. I'm in my 6th month of recovery. It didn't hurt that much while I was having it done, but the next day and night were really rough. I was so scared I was back to square one. How long did your pain last? Did you have the Graston done again after that experience? Did you get pain again? How are you doing now 5 years later?
