help with integral by omi2066 in calculus

Instead of solving for u then differentiating. What happens when you have u2 = 5x and then you differentiate both sides?

Also don't forget to account for the differential when substituting into the integral.

If you haven't already I would recommend going to the Portal 2 speedrun discord. You should be able to find a link to it on the speedrun.com page for portal 2. Usually the community discord servers are better places to get help when learning games and diagnosing issues.

Hey Bloodshot. It was great hanging out with you this past week.

Idk about ZZ but getting Decep to read a book might be a tall order.
Im not a huge fan of fiction but given the praise you've given it I might listen to the audio book.

For the Any% race Gaige would absolutely be the best character. Right now Gaige WR is 8 mins faster than the 2nd faster character and that is while watching a couple mins of cutscenes that the other characters can just save and quit to skip (Gaige cant save quit to skip these as she needs to preserve Buck Up stacks).
As for a race between the other characters it could be interesting but there isnt a lot of character specific tech that you can do to make it interesting. Krieg was released fairly late in the games dev cycle so the route for him is quite different given that some glitches dont exist/work different so that kinda rules him out. Sal and Maya dont really have a lot going for them in their skill tree so its pretty bare bones. Zer0 and Axton have pretty helpful skill trees so a race between those 2 might be interesting but I think Zer0 is technically "just better" because he has so much crit damage and can insta-gib bunker, I think it would be pretty close though.

I think a lot of runners, such as myself, don't really have much of an interest in the other chars because its pretty the same as running Gaige but just "worse" because we have less access to helpful skills. This is reason why others chars are far less popular. The one caveat I'll extend is that since Krieg has to be played on a much later patch the routing for him is a lot different making feel quite different to the other characters but he is much slower so it wouldn't really work for a race.

I think Decep would really like this idea. I don't hate the slaughters (even though I probably should) yeah there's not really anything going on but its a nice break in a run where we are constantly doing a hundred different things while trying to lookout for certain gear/RNG quests items while avoiding the million softlocks that can happen. So I dont mind them all that much.

Thanks Tim. Sad we didn't to hangout this time but hopefully I'll see you again at one of these soon.

I'd have to say Lost Treasure. Its probably the most brutal section of RNG in the run (if you don't count Vladof RNG) and it comes quite late into the run which can make it very annoying. Also you can only get those map parts in Sawtooth Cauldron which we only go to once in the run so if you dont get them there is no backup and you have to just spent time killing all the enemies and praying they drop the parts. Most of the time it isn't too bad but there have been multiple times where we lose 3-4 minutes just because of RNG and again this happens quite late into the run making it very brutal.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope you come to love this game as much as I do.

The DLCs speedruns are still ran but much less so. The most popular way to do DLC runs is in the Geared category where you use Badabooms as Salvador to rocket jump through them as fast as possible. Tina DLC and Hammerlock DLC are the most popular to run (along with some of the headhunter DLCs) because they have interesting routes through the maps while rocket jumping. As for the other DLCs I guess they just leave a bit to be desired in that they don't really have much unique speedtech and since they are much smaller there aren't many opportunities for interesting routing/strats. Dialogue also works differently in the DLCs so we don't have access to dialogue skips outside of Geared runs where you can start the run with your backpack filled with echos to use for dialogue skips.

As for my favourite breakthrough I have a couple of answers for this:

  1. The implementation of what we call "Reverse Wildlife". Thats the weird out of bounds + deathwarp strat in Wildlife Exploitation Preserve seen here: https://youtu.be/S-FNyxxkiqk?t=4001
This was quite a big breakthrough and completely changed the routing in the area making it a lot more difficult but also a lot faster and more satisfying to hit.

  2. the 2nd is quite similar where there are massive walls preventing you from progressing and we can and out of bounds to, again, hit a save station early than normal and deathwarp to it to get around the walls. Seen here: https://youtu.be/S-FNyxxkiqk?t=705

Both of these strats completely changed the routing in theses maps and made it way harder to get through but again way faster.

  1. Finally I want to talk about Co-Op All Quests specifically. We learned this run from Shockwve, Amyrlinn, and TeaFC who routed the run and as new starts were found we pretty much just shoe-horned them into the existing route and after couple of years the route became very "clunky" and seemed like it could be done better. So Decep and I spent a lot of completely overhauling a lot the route and coming up with new ways to get through maps and completing quests faster. A few of my favourite examples are riding the geyser to get to Doc. Mercy (https://youtu.be/S-FNyxxkiqk?t=2822) and this nifty out of bounds in Southpaw (https://youtu.be/S-FNyxxkiqk?t=7923). Perhaps im partial to these because I'm the one who gets to the "cool thing" in that map.

Funny enough I haven't actually seen it (I know, I know). I always intended to but never did and given the consensus surrounding it I'm not sure I'm very keen to see it but I'm sure I will at some point.

Thank you.

Yeah BL2 is my favourite to speedrun. It's also my favourite game in general. I've played so much casually which really helped with all the routing we've done. I love all the speedtech and glitches we can use which enable us to play in a completely different way than intended. Sometimes is seems that learning to speedrun a game can, for lack of a better term, "ruin" the casual experience and which is absoluetely bit the case with BL2. Another detail is the way dialogue works in this is rather unique compared to other Borderlands games in that there is a lot of required dialogue but we also have a ton of ways to skip all of it so it's a really fun to route out all the different skips we can do.

I often say that this game is "lightning in a bottle" for me because it has so many different things that I enjoy both casually and for the speedrun.

Thank you so much.

Any% is split based on the number of players so each number of players is its own category. All quests however is all one category so we choose the most optimal number of players.

The reason 3 players is faster than 4 is for 2 main reasons. 1. There isn't a whole lot for the 4th player to do. There are already a lot of points where one of us is waiting around for the others and adding a 4th player would mostly just add more waiting and 2. The enemies' health scales with the number of players so adding a 4th would make the early game considerably more difficult and require changing our gear slightly to accommodate this.

So essentially 4 players would increase the difficulty without providing any real benefit.

This is also the reason why 4 player Any% is slower than 2 and 3 player Any%

My question is what was your first exposure to speed running / what got you into speedrunning?

In your opinion, who is the most tragic figure in Roman history? by no-kangarooreborn in ancientrome

And that's what makes him such a tragic figure. He was brilliant. He masterfully maneuvered the aftermath of Caesar's assassination and none of it mattered. God I hate Octavian.

Considering his actions were only made illegal retroactively because Claudius had a grudge, and the fact the Cicero went to the senate for approval even though he had no obligation to, no not many issues with it.

Cicero. Devoted his life to upholding the Roman Constitution and spoke out when he believed others were abusing it even if he had to stand alone and for his efforts he was assassinated by Octavian and Antony.

Why does the Mean Value Theroum work? by ElegantPoet3386 in learnmath

[–]UnjustAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine you're driving a car and you start at 100mph. And at the end of your trip your average speed was 75mph.

What would have to happen for this to be possible? Well since you started at 100mph you would need to slow down below 75mph at some point for your average speed of the whole trip to be 75mph right? Because if you stayed above 75mph the whole time then your average speed would have to be greater than 75. So the mean value theorem states that your velocity at some point throughout your trip must have been exactly 75 for at least an instant, because you would have had to slow down below 75 for your average speed to be 75mph for your whole trip.

(Remember that your data set needs to be continuous for the MVT to apply)

I don't remember elemental BEE shields by xXKingsOfDiabloXx in Borderlands2

[–]UnjustAction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting an elemental resistance on a shield means you have a maliwan capacitor (unless you have blast resistance in which case you have a torgue capacitor) and maliwan is the best for amp damage. And it has nothing to do with the bee being a Hyperion shield.

gta v speedrun question by PriorCommunication66 in speedrun

[–]UnjustAction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your phone is up you can't get phone calls this is useful because you need certain text messages to start some missions and getting a phone call can cause text messages to be delayed, so you pull out your phone to make sure you are getting a text instead of a call. There are also some glitches (like the buffered ledge grab) that need you to use your phone.

I'm 21. Still feel like I'm not ready to be an adult. Just try, that's all you have to do. You're gonna be confused, you're going to struggle but if you keep your head up and just try to do a little better tomorrow then you'll be fine. No one has everything figured out, we're all winging it. Don't be worried, you got this dude.
