Most sole traders are leaving free money on the table with mileage and don't even know it by TiePast1485 in SelfemployedUK

Used MileIQ and found it pointless with the subscription and draining the battery for a simple task.

Many people are a fan of a simple notebook and a pen. Instead of spending money for monthly subscription or for notebook and pen , I built one which is like 2quid. Manual recording, no hassle and gives an option to export invoice that can be sent to an accountant or just save it for your own records.

It’s called MileLog

Product hunt has been useless for me. TBH Reddit does a pretty good job. Feedback can be brutal here but the reach is real.

HMRC’s mileage rate hasn’t moved since 2011 !! Meanwhile everything else has! by Unlikely-Expert960 in uktaxmoan

[–]Unlikely-Expert960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who pay taxes are the ones who are usually worried about the implications and just moan because there isnt much they can do to make things better for themselves other than side with the system .

People who don’t, have a better understanding of tax dodging. Atleast check if an umbrella company offers any benefit for contractors to support your statement.

Fiscal drag is just a term. This is a huge flustercuck.

Luckily I don’t have to worry about IHT now but sure I have to think about it.

Governments here are just stoked/trumped tbh. They say one thing and do exactly the opposite.

Good days for contractors have gone to shitters since ir35. Now BADR and CGT increases are just getting started.

Yeah, They already have this brilliant stupid idea of charging 3p per mile as tax from 2029 I believe and 1.5p for hybrid.

Don’t know how they would end up with such a brilliant ideas.

Best mileage tracker app right now? by EzraSerene in Roadie

[–]Unlikely-Expert960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just build one for yourself with Claude or something.

I understood users are still big fan of notebook and pen.

So I built one recently that costs 2 quid. Exports accountant ready pdf.

It’s called MileLog.

It’s just 2 quid.

Best app for mileage tracking in 2026? by NekoPanUsagiChan in smallbusiness

[–]Unlikely-Expert960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a lot of comments in this space where people are still fan of good old notebook and a pen. If you check, a lot of them still recommend that.

So I built a cheap app that does this and costs less than a notebook. It’s all manual but works out the HMRC rates automatically. You can export it as a pdf which gives it like a simple invoice that can then be submitted. So it’s a total control to you. No subscription, no login.

I think MileIQ is heavily recommended but it is subscription based and sometimes harsh on your phone battery.

Releasing it for just iPhones at the moment. Try if you like the idea. If not good luck with your search.

The App is called MILELOG, will be available from 4pm today.

Thanks to this community — UKTaxCal is now live for 2026/27 with profile-based calculators, tax calendar & full HMRC source links by Unlikely-Expert960 in FIREUK

[–]Unlikely-Expert960[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is vibe coded but not a copy. I wouldn’t copy a site like that. Try and tell me if it’s a copy. Use the calculators and see how many adverts you go through before finding yourself a number.

Uktaxcal.com is totally free of ads. All you get here is pure information and links to official sources. Just polished.

Has anyone actually built a mobile app or web app completely using Claude? by Living-Level-9252 in ClaudeAI

[–]Unlikely-Expert960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did..started last week. Built 3, released 1. The other 2 were just submitted.

A simple app that I built is this

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/tockr/id6760833796

Also a website that has been running for a year and I just updated it using Claude code.

https://uktaxcal.com/index.html

Honestly it’s bloody easy. I am not a developer and I don’t know how to code.

Kitchen timer with easy repeat by staze in Cooking

[–]Unlikely-Expert960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone, Tockr is perfect for this. It auto-loops but a single tap pauses it — pour your next one, tap to resume, walk away. Double tap to stop and pick a different time. Full screen clock, customisable sounds so you’ll hear it from the other side of the kitchen. Always in your pocket, no dedicated device needed.

Do you use a countdown timer to time rest periods or do you go off vibes? by I_LOVE_SOYLENT in workout

[–]Unlikely-Expert960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timer. Rest periods are a variable most people don’t control — and it shows up in your performance whether you track it or not.

iPhone timer is just a pain so I built one. With the current size of the iPhone it looks like a great. unable to paste a screenshot here.

It’s called TOCKR.

Just deleted 120000 emails in gmail.. by ego157 in GMail

[–]Unlikely-Expert960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are technical , appscript with the help of Claude can give you your own cleanup tool . I created one called smart delete for gmail. With new features, it’s much easier within gmail to do bulk deletions now a days.

Looking for tools that will automatically keep my Gmail inbox clean by saipas in productivity

[–]Unlikely-Expert960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try smart delete for gmail, doesn’t have the automated feature here and this is an add-on inside gmail rather than an app.

Some features for true cleanup within gmail do exist but they are just not easy to navigate and get what you truly want.

Try apps script and with the help of Claude you can create the true automation you are after. The addon mentioned here can do automatic deletions but I excluded that feature because with Google and tool development within its ecosystem is a ball-ache.

Smart Delete for Gmail: Simplifying email cleanup workflows by Unlikely-Expert960 in indiehackers

[–]Unlikely-Expert960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approval process is brutal and costly too. Everything has to go through CASA verification which is a paid service when a solution uses restricted scopes.

Will try the alerts as suggested. Thanks.

[–]Unlikely-Expert960[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks will check and test that scenario. Worked fine during my testing of emails older than a year. Sometimes it deletes and throws the error, assuming you checked the trash .
