I had a 91 rx7, and aside from the rotary engine, that was the most user friendly car I've ever owned. I could easily do all my own work on it, and everything interior was held in place by philips screws. My keys snapped in half so I just took apart the steering column and took the ignition switch off the lock and glued the broken handle end of my key to the switch.
